Driveway Gates

As many of you know we are in the process of building a new house and moving our farm down to Carlisle, PA. We are installing electric fence around the property, and would like to get some feedback or leads on driveway gates from those of you that have them. I'm thinking standard black bi fold gate, nothing fancy. Just wanting to do it the best way for the least amount of money possible. The house, deer pens, water, etc are adding up REAL fast!

Thanks in advance.

Best,

Mike

Bi fold gates mean 2 operators, ie. twice the chances of a malfunction or false opening. Having said that, I have installed many double gate operators and have had good service from them. My preference in entrance gates is a sliding gate. These allow for wide openings (up to 40') and are very reliable. Additionally if the gate does not operate (and one day it won't) they are easy to disable and operate manually. Operator brands are appollo, GTO, my personal favorite.....Lift Master (Mega-Slide) and several others. All can be solar powered, but if you can get power to the gate life is alot better.

Good advice as usual, thanks Scott! We have to trench for electric to the house anyway, so good time to run a line to the gate and be done with it.

I'd imagine the sliding gate is better for us up here in snow country as well.

Thanks again!

Mike

Hey Mike I agree the bi fold gate would not be my choose either. I have a slider 14' opening did it myself and has worked perfectly now for 5 yrs.I suggest a good one don't go cheep, if you need a dealer call me and i'll give you there name, they sold me all the materials and also helped with info when I was putting it in.

I build and install any gate you can think of, deer gates, ornamental and custom, contact info below.

Hey Mike,

I agree with the sliding. Andy Foor has the same gate at his place, and I think it is the best.
