Just getting started here and need some ideas for a Drop chute. Would love to see some of your guys testing facilities. Can any of you guys post some pictures of the ways you catch and Medicate your animals.

We need to get our deer TB tested and so far all the vets we have talked to don't have any experience with deer. How do you get your deer tested for TB.

The last vet said it is $150 hour for them to show up and then I have to catch all my deer for them. Then they give them a shot. Then 72 hours later I have to catch them again for $150 hour for them the retest them for TB. Is this how it works. If so how can you make any money raising deer. This will cost me more than I paid for the deer to start with.

Need help to get this done on 24 deer. 9 Whitetail 15 Fallow.

Deer are in Kentucky

There are plans for a drop chute in the classifieds on this site. They say drope chute for under $600. I built one and a simple set up to do my testing. worked good. You can see the pics in my profile. Also it is more economical to build a simple set up like this rather than dart each deer twice. Mine paid for its self in the first time I had to test and now I am testing this year and I will be doing it for free minus vet cost.

I will be trying to set something up soon. any pros and cons that you see with his set up. I would like as much info and Pictures I can get to make it easier for me to get started on the Right track. Please anyone else have any suggestion on working the deer threw the chutes also. I have 2 that like bouncing off the fences when they get spooked.

I'd love to hear your thoughts on behaviour & handling differences between the fallow & whitetail.

The only things I would suggest if using the above design would be to allow for some form of draughting so you can sort or break down any mob before the crush.

I dont know about whitetail but fallow & most species calm down faster in low light.

The diagram shows the flow in the shed as red lines.I would have this as a lane with four rooms interconnected (below these lines on the diagram). These rooms can then be used to draught,to & from each other or back to the central lane,to go to the crush or outside.

Only solid board these dividing walls to about three feet, keep spaces (about an inch & a half) from this height up.

Don't know about whitetail but all the other species benefit by seeing you move about & each other when in the yards(still low light).

As you grow add some holding yards outside the shed/barn.

Try to bend or dogleg laneways as deer move better down these.

Twelve foot laneways will mean fast deer, double the width if you like them a little slower.

Dont push the fallow, they will bail up at gates, just wait & they will go through, these times the old granny does are your best friend.

I keep a line of pure Persians for conservation (not profit). If you are keeping fallow for trophys, please keep them away from Persian fallow.Nothing ruins a Dama dama herd faster than Meso, unless you just want venison.

All the best

Thinks WDF I have your plans having a problem with anyone helping build it.

Thanks for the diagrams also.

The Fallow are easier to work so far there not as fast of fisty as the Whitetail. The Whitetail are quick and run Right into the Fence with out even trying to miss them.

Hello Brad

I give telephone support to anyone that buys my plans. (8am to 8pm central time 7 days a week)

If you have any problems during the assembly just call me @ 218-444-8069

In all the years of selling the plans (over 500) I have only had two persons say that they could not do it.

And about twenty have called for a little advice.
