we are new to raising deer and are thinking of getting a drop chute or to try and make one ourselves. does anyone know were we can get plans for a drop chute? thanks

There are plans that you can buy from the sale ads on this site. They say you can make one for under $600. I just made on this spring and it came in very close to that and I even got the steel at my work at a business discount price. So anyone else it will be a little more. I like the chute. My only complaint is it doesnt have a back press in the plans. I plan on adding one to it. So by the time I add that plus the 40 hrs it says it takes you to make one (which it takes longer than that if you are partical about your work) It will be around $1400. I know you cant by a deerhandler for this price but if your not handy with welding and fabricating building one would be a nightmare. If you look in my profile you can see pics of it complete.

I can't say enough about my Declayna drop chute . I'm sure it has paid for itself several times already in just the four years I've had it . The drugs and darts needed for tresting and treating sick or injured animals is just to dang exspensive . I had bought plans from a fellow to build my own chute and if I remember correct it would have only cost me around $500.00 while the Declayna was 3800.00 at that time . I'm still thinking the Declayna was hands down my best investment in this deer business. I can vaccinate , ear tag , implant CIDR's and give shots by myself no problem . With three guys we can TB and Brucellosis test about 20 deer an hour when giving the shot and drawing blood . To read the TB tests it much much faster . Same three people can AI at about the same speed as the testings . The AIing has to have paid for the chute if nothing else has hands down . Just my thought and nothing more !!

I sell Drop Chute plans

I have a printed set of plans to build your own Drop Chute.

It takes about 40 hours to assemble this drop chute with easy to understand instructions and color prints.

The plans comes with a complete material list and instructions to cut, number parts and step by step instructions in sequence to facilitate easy assembly.

Materials may be purchased at your local steel supplier, lumber and hardware store at a cost of about $600.00 for materials.

Designed with easy excess large working doors.

You can run 6 month old Northern Whitetail Fawns up to adult Red Deer though it and possibly Red sheep, Ibex, Axis Deer, Sitka, Blackbuck, Fallow and other farmed Exotic animals.

I have all the parts for Wayne's chute, I just never had the time to put it together if anyone was interested.

Have a older model Mama chute, made a few modifications to it and it worked great doing the TB tests

Just finished Tb testing 103 whitetails. Friday reading tags, shaving and injection. One guy moving deer, I held head and another helper, 3 hours start to finish. Yesterday inspecting, giving two shots vac and wormer, done in 2 hrs. With PaPa handler. I ran chute and handled all the deer myself and Vet did his thing. Could never have done that with the conventional handlers. Alex

A friend of mine called me a few days ago , and told me he was going to sell a Delcayna Mama chute. He said it has had about 100 deer thru it and to keep my ears open if I heard of someone looking for one.. If you are interested, his name is Robert @ 417 880-4348 The chute is in southwest Missouri
