Dropping Antlers

Just curious as to who dropped and who didn't. All of my buck, including the cut ones and the button bucks, still have their antlers.

We have 2 Button Bucks that both lost there buttons last week. We had a wild Whitetail at the pen yesterday that still had his Antlers, a nice 10 pointer.

Half of my bucks still have antlers. This is one of the worst winters we have had in Montana. Robert I don't think the cold has much to do with antler drop unless it has caused a body condition drop. I'll bet antler drop has to do with body condition and if the deer have had very good food haven't lost much body condition even in the cold. Have seen too many minus 20 degree days this year. We also have way more snow than I can remember for at least twenty years. I'm ready for spring that is for sure.

I still say that injured, unhealthy, stress, diet or unusual circumstance CAN cause early antler drop...but on the other hand, early antler drop doesnt neccesarily mean any of those conditions. I know that sounds odd, but some bucks just shed early every year. Some shed late every year. Im saying an early shed may or may not mean anything. I had a buck that used to shed an antler in January, and not shed his other side till almost March...three different years!

First breeder (antlers intact) dropped both sides last week. One of my cutoffs lost one side today. Can't wait until they are all off.
