Cassie, you will most likely hear about EHD/bluetongue cases after the fact. It seems that here in Louisiana deerfarmers are somewhat reluctant to tell people they have cases in their herd. I never quite understood the hestiancy to tell other farmers but it seems that for whatever reason they do not divulge this information .(maybe they think that others may have a lesser opinion of their deer?). Personally, i like buying deer from herds that have had EHD/.bluetongue outbreaks, in my opinion these deer are not naive to the virus and seem to survive better than deer from herds that supposely never have a case of the virus or claim their deer are EHD resistant.
