I had not lost a deer for just over a week and was hoping that EHD was over for this year, but it's back on a roll in my neighborhood with deer dying again. Is anyone else still having deer die from EHD?

Lost 3 last week to make total of 13 since mid Sept, have one with bottle jaw now and been treating him. Still pouring the garlic to them 2x a day while it is warm. Close to 80 here today. Supposed to cool down lots on Friday and at least til Monday.

those of you who have sucessfully treated EHD infected deer....how many days/treatments did you use??? I've been giving 3cc Baytril, 3cc Draxxin, 6cc loading, and 3cc after that of Dex. Every other day, on third treatment now.

BMayes, I lost mostly adults until last week, then fawns started dying. Haven't had one since the weekend, but won't be surprised if I find one today. I'm just 100 miles from you.

darted the one yesterday with 2cc excede and 1cc 4mg dex yesterday. Had darted him with draxin day before and still looked puney yesterday. He seemed quite a bit more spry today. The other two that had it that are alive that showed some mild signs 3 weeks ago responded to that combo. I repeat in 2 days if they look like they need it. Seems like if they don't look better in 12 hrs with that combo its down hill quick in 24-36 hrs. If they look at you wrong I feel its better to treat and they don't need it than to wish in 12 hrs that you had.

48 hrs apart w excede/dex

That buck that I darted w draxin had some respiratory issues back in August. I thought that was rearing its head again so thats why I gave him draxin because that helped him before. I had the dart in the dart gun and noticed he had ehd swelling under his jaw as I was pursuing him. i went ahead and used the draxin. He was not any better the next day so I decided to go ahead with the excede/dex yesterday. Swelling was down and felt better. But with EHD who knows, right?

how are the deer that have to go through the treated ropes that dangle above them when they come for food. maybe That is the answer to prevent the bug bites. I know some people use them . have they lost any deer too EHD.

I've been in the deer business for three years now. Ever since I started I've had the rope tubes that we made our self on our entrance ways to the deers water troughs. Mixing 10oc of 46 percent perimertian with five gallon of diesel fuel. Either this is working or God has been real good to us but don't hurt to use both tubes and asking God to bless what u d

We used four and five inch on different ones just put a cap on one end then a elbow with a screw in cap on other end. Predrill holes stick rope through holes bring out to end of pipe and tie a knot in the end that will stay in pipe so it doesn't slide back through. Leave the rope sticking inside the pipe aways then it will pick up chemicals up when the tube gets low. If need more info let me know

I have a good friend in AL that has been using these rope wicks for quite some time. He has never lost a deer to EHD. He sells them for around $80-90/ea. If your interested PM me and I can give you his name a number.
