This was brought up on Erics thread and I just wanted to move it out here so not to take away from that post and it's importance! As i stated on there i breed for certain character traits i would like to incorperate into my herd. While making a deeper pedigree wich in turn makes my offspring easier to move to new or established farms.Things i consider,Tine Length,Beam Lenght,Mass and Width And most important to me a proven pedigree. And while doing this i use Bucks that as one described as "Hot". True..... but as a relatively new Breeder i feel these deer meet "my" criteria for what i'm looking for and making some desireable offspring for my current breeding program and the future of my program! With offspring that will and are forming the foundation of my program. So here is what i have bred with the last 3 years not listed in the order used..........John David (maxbo son a big typical),Sunriser(SunDowner Son 200" typical 2 yr old with the look), Maxbo Ranger for 2 yrs (Width and Eye Appeal),Maxin A Like (for the xtras)Maxin PC (Big Typical),Sundowner( Beauty and Width),Maxbo Hardcore (everything),Climax (WOW... Beauty and Width) Double Max (Powerful pedigree and the look)Maxboy(Mass)Little Larry ( Long Tines stacked in like a picket fence) Punch Bowl(Width and Looks) And whats my plan for 2010 ?... Continue what i started and breeding with

Climax,Shadow,Double Max are all in the tank and maybe another "Hot" Buck or two Thats what gets me in the "AUCTIONS"...........But even with that aside are these deer "MARKETABLE" ? With a "PROVEN PEDIGREE" ?.....Sellable to just about everyone?.... I think So.......But If I'm a........... "FAB BREEDER" ? ........................WHAT ARE YOU?...........My point is i got a text from a friend of mine today a "BIG DOG" as some call them i call 'em "A Deer Freind" Nathan Blosser that i thought came at a good time today while i was venting and it ptetty well sums things for those off course in this industry "Obstacles are those frightful things you see when you take your eyes off your goal" I'll keep my eyes on my goals.... And make no appoligies for it!............."FAB or NOT" ....................Tell us what you are? Thanks :)

I am a FAD breeder I guess. I use what is "hot" provided it fulfills my main goals in breeding. Or am I using what fulfills my main goals in breeding using what is "hot"? Well, either way I use what I want to use because no one has ever put a gun to my head telling me what I should use or should buy. Funny, I don't ever recall anyone being held at gun point at any of the sales. Hmmm.

Hi my name is Matt and I'm a fad breeder. Ha Ha couldn't resist. Wayne I agree with everything you said, Ive always heard breed the best you can and good things will happen. Even though I breed with the "Hot" sires I have some does that do nothing but produce great shooters every year and they would not bring much at a auction, therefore they will live here and produce till they pass on.

Call me what you want, I breed for certain charateristics but the sire I use has to be proven in performance and in the auctions.

2010 I am breeding with Big Guy, Dream Ranger, 20/28, more TBD, in the last 2 years we have bred with Maxbo Ranger, Maxbo Hardcore, Reno, Rolex, Jeckyl,

Even though I use Jeckyl, I will breed him to a more typical doe with width trying to improve upon both pedigrees

I breed for the look i like i'm not a fad breeder although some of the fad deer are very nice. Rick can we really call you what we want.

Rick..........Matt is right..........it's.......OK!........come on out into the sunshine......"you a fad breeder"..............Sorry Rick just couldnt resist! :D

What ever you want to call me, I breed for what "I" like to watch grow. Although I do have a breeder buck that does not have a "Big Name" pedigree, he produces for me, and I like that. I will AI his does to better "Big Name" breeders, but he will always be my foundation. I cant afford to go out and buy the Big Time semen but I am using sons of them. I think I could raise something good, sometime down the road. I have already put a 151" yearling under my belt. I know that does not seem like much to most, but it is a start. This year I will AI my PJ does to sons of Maxbo, Jeckyl, and Marti Graw. In the past they were AI'ed to sons of Soaring Eagle, Highroller,Maxbo Extreme, Bucky, BW Sunny, and Larry himself. Being a small time farm, do yall think I'm doing the right thing???????

I don't believe i am sayin this but i guess i go both way's.......You see i have never bred a deer and i am in the process of gellin with some great people that bred both way's so i guess untill i figure this whole thing out"I GO BOTH WAY'S"

After hearing that hope you never have to go to Dennis duffies farm.Do you happen to know Dennis.
