Ok Mr.Whitetails you ask and you recieve......here is a poll on the preserve hunts....please answer honestly so we can get and idea on where we stand........hopefully i put the right choices up

As stupid as it sounds, I cant afford to hunt high fence, but raise shooter bucks.

Jay, that really isn't stupid since getting into the business can count on 1 hand how many hunts I went on myself. Don't even Elk hunt anymore! Working man can't afford to hunt anymore! I guess tonight I'll blame it on O'Bama Go cry on uncle Wally's shoulder he'll get tired of the whining and put you on something , or maybe not! ZZ

Jay thats not stupid its called being honest!! ZZ won't do any good to blame it on O'Bama he won't listen anyhow....he to busy trying to CHANGE (as he promised) this great country of ours into something we don't want! Thank God I can at least say I did not vote for him!

Dennis I'm pretty sure we had a poll alot like this on the old forum and if I'm not mistaken your concerns about the anti hunters doing somthing with the results ended up transfering it to the private forum. I guess it works if it is your poll. If I remember at least half the farmers had been on a high fence hunt and those that hadn't would go if the cost of the hunt wasn't a factor.

Buckskin,

I do remeber having this in the old forum and remebered that as i was doing it. By your comment you must have been the one that made it last time......I could not remember what we did with it....but you bring up a good point.......Buckskin I'm going to ignore the jab you took only cause I'm tired of arguing with fellow farmers in this Industry....one of the reasons i got into this Industry is because of the good people and I'm certian you fit in that category.......I do not have a preserve I am only trying to help us all.......I will be more than happy to move this poll where ever if we think it is going to be a tool for the idiots to use......let me know guys and girls and we will do whats best.............think we had this in the old forum......The funny part is MR.whitetails you told me to do this poll as it would be condtructive and I woudn't get my head chewed off..........hmmmmm......oh well ,what you going to do.....trust me I only have this Industries success in mind!! And will do what i can to see it end up a that way!

If you factor in ALL the costs of free range hunting you will find that hunting in a preserve is the same cost, if not CHEAPER than free range hunting. If your a land owner, you have to factor in the cost of food plots, gas for the tractor, stands, cameras, tags, and many other things. If you travel to free range hunt, it even gets more tricky. You have to pay for a lease, travel evpenses, lodging, food, as well as hire somebody to do all the things that you would have to do to set it up as if it were your own land.

AND, If you are dealing with a state that has a draw for tags, then you can only expect to get to hunt there every two years, not to mention out of stat tage prices. Some are $500+.

AFTER you've done all of this, you may get a chance at a nice 120" deer. If you are LUCKY. If it is a prime spot, then you've really payed a nice chuck of change, or are in good with somebody, you might expect to get a 140" deer. If the neighbor didn't shoot it first...

And we wonder why kids don't want to go hunting anymore...

All of this is included in most preserve hunts. you only have to get there. A preseve hunt is all that is fun about hunting WITHOUT all that is bad.

I don't know about you guys, but sign me up!

I agree with you guys about the High fenced Hunts......they will without a doubt be the way hunting is done for most now and in the future.......but i so have to admit i love doing all of the stuff leading up to the hunt......like scouting .........putting cameras out...........putting u the tree stands......to me that is all part of the hunt too.......but you right you may get a chance if your lucky at a 120 class buck..........I knwo that the Preserve hunts have all of the excitement plus more.......lot's of Big buck sitings and no other hunters around to screw up youe hunt for you..........thats what we need to get out to the hunters

DD I love that stuff too, I do quite alot acually on my own property, but as far as hunting anywhere besides my own place, a preserve is the way to go!

So far seems like it's 50/50 we need to turn that around guys........should be at least 80/20!!

310 views 49 votes I just don't get it........now i do realize some come back and view it more than once....but our voting numbers should still be higher than 49......why doesn't anyone want to vote.....try it....its fun.......I wish this many voters would have showed up for Obama we wouldn't be headed for the mess we are heading for if that were the case!!

I hunted at a preserve a few years ago and had a great experience. Doing that kind of helped get me into the breeding side of it.

Even though I live in Montana I still deer farm as we are grand fathered in. I have owned hunting ranch's and I have also hunted on them. A well run hunting ranch can give you the same experience as a wild hunt with all the thrill of a wild hunt.

I believe it is where all sportsman should take their children to start these new hunters as this new generation want results. If they don't get them they will go back to the computer games.

I got into to breeding after taking my son on a management hunt in a preserve in Texas. It was a large preserve and the deer were wild as could be but we did see fine bucks. My son was 9 years old and killed a nice eight point. We ave 1200 acres and never saw bucks like that. Due to our neighbors our bucks did not live long enough to grow to a decent size and the number of deer was very low. I believe kids have quit hunting because they hardly ever see anything to shoot. They get bored with hunting.
