I'm wanting to build a new fawn barn and was wanting to know some thoughts and ideas on how to do the inside. How big to make the fawn pens, what to build them out of (if one material or the other helps prevent the spread of sickness), if the pens should be on the concrete ( what to bed them with) or elevated to drain, if fans are needed, and so on. Pics would be a plus. Thanks

Issac,

We have ours on a very fine gravel. It makes it easy to rake and clean. I have seen some on sawdust. The walls are just 2x4s covered with osb, about 10' x 10'. We also use these rooms when running does in to work or AI, so they have a guilotine between rooms. After a few weeks, we will let them move back and forth to a coral, just made from woven wire and shade cloth. Some people will make them out of wood. We also installed box fans in the ceiling to draw out the heat. Hope this helps. I look forward to seeing what others say also.

Isaac, I can take some pics of our facility if you want me to. It was not a real cheap barn to build but I dont think it is real expensive either. We build a lot of dairy facilities here in Wisconsin and have learned there are so many little things to consider.
