Dont know bout mineral oil for bloat, i think corn oil is better, i never saw bloat but if i do i changing milk.first thing.and let them have plenty running and playing space. mine run laps around garden and bucks and jumps, i think sure helps, and nibbling on grass. only my thinking. curious what milk you using, not that that is problem but it is a start.DC
If the fawn is a butt licker, this will contribute to bloat. Isolation and probiotics may help. Put some baking soda in a dish so they have access to it. According to my goat expert, this will help balance the pH and reduce the acidity in the rumen. Too much, however, will make the rumen become too basic, and that is not good either.
Thanks for everyones input, Robbie that sounds worth trying, her mouth was wet and foamy today, her little butt gets to stay all alone for a couple of days. The baking soda, do you give it to them free choice? If so, how much is too much?
The goat farmer that I asked about it said she keeps it out free choice all of the time. Make sure you have good clean dirt available, and give probiotics.
