I have a 2 week old fawn (approximately)that I need some advice on. A little bit of back story. I live way out in the country, this fawn was on my property for 3 days, no momma in sight. By the third day she could barely get up. I finally approached her. Her backside was covered in maggots. Piece of the umbilical cord was still there. She was cold, so I made the choice to try and save her. I'm not a vet, but I do work in the medical field and I use to have some farm animals. I did reach out to animal control and was told to shoot her. I couldnt do it. So I cleaned her up, no more maggots. She does have places on her that are healing nicely. I have been feeding her goat milk, she eats about 3-4 oz at a time about every 4 hours. I offer her some water as well.
The other day I noticed a little bit of blood in her poop. Well today she pooped at feeding and I wouldnt consider it diarrhea but it's not really pellets either. It does have bright blood throughout, not much. A little bit of mucous, but doesnt smell bad. She pooped without stimulation as she has a few other times as well. I have read about E. Coli and the other coccidia but she's not sick or shows any symptoms of sickness, she has very much improved. Could it just be because she is pooping without stimulation sometimes. Should I treat anyway?
I hope to not get any backlash for saving this fawn, but I just couldnt leave her to suffer and die. Any advice is very much appreciated. I do have a pic of her poop on a baby wipe that I did upload.
