fawn pens

I would say the same as everything else. In the future you might want to put a adult deer in there for any number of reasons. But I am just a visitor here .Still looking forward to my first Pen. then you can call me a real deer farmer. Jenni you deer farmer you.

I made my fawn pen 100x200 with a building for the fawns and a couple 10x10 dog pens outside the building.When the fawns are big enough i let them in the little pens during the day and move them back in at night.This gets them used to a fence and also lets them get their dirt,alfalfa and clover. kinda like a pen in a pen.Next we just leave the door open and let them come in and out on their own!!!!

We just re-built ours last spring and would really recommend the 3" wire! We LOVE IT

do you bottle feed

Yes we bottle feed for sure.Thats one of the better parts of this great thing we call deer farming!!

ours are 2'6 wide ane 5' deep . we use a 4 x 8 pc of plywoood and put 3 doors on each pc and put 5' pcs between doors

ours is 3 x 4. Solid sides and tops. We also have a removable top. When we first pull our fawns we stick them in there with the top on in the dark. We have a lot going on around here and it gets them used to the sounds and keeps them calm. After the first 24 hours or when they take there first bottle we then open it up and the love begins. After the first week we then turn them loose in the building to Rome and lock em up at night in there boxes. After that we let em out into the pen 20x80 and bring em in at night.



My opinion on size of pens is. What ever size you can get into along with the fawn and comfortably sit and be able to reach and possibly hold or restrain fawn to bottle feed. Very important for the first day or two of feeding. After that we all know its cake. Getting them to take the first bottle is the challenge.
