I have tons of plastic flooring like JDL Longhorn builds their fawn pens out of. It belongs to my boss but I'm positive it won't be used anytime soon. I'm sort of selling some of his old stockpile-if there is enough interest I'll ask him what he wants for some. I used some last year to build some pens and it worked pretty good. The only thing is that I don't believe it is UV rated so long life in the sunshine might not happen.

H&M, 3x5 should be fine, we use 3x4 kennel type boxes for the first 10 days to 2 weeks.Usually there is only 1 fawn per pen ,but some times we double up. Just be sure to keep the bedding CLEAN and DRY. A light dusting of powder lime in the pens between cleanings is good pratice. Good Luck with the Fawns. Allen

we have a purpose built barn for bottlefeeding , we have 9 5'x6' pens in the barn, we have had up to four fawns per pen and have a half acre pen to run the out into between the feedings , we usually keep them confined to the barn for the first month.

We have 3x4 stalls for our fawns and even though we dont double up there would be plenty of room, we keep them in there for 2 weeks then move them into a 12 x 12 stall with other 2 week olds, they stay there for 2 more weeks, at 4 weeks of age we move them outside into a 1/4 acre pen at this time thay are depending on us for their milk and are waiting to be fed, no chasing.

I also keep fresh clean dirt, water and grass or green trimmings in with the fawns from the time they are 2-3 days old, I even force feed some dirt occassionally by wetting the dirt rubbing my finger in it and sticking it in there mouth, this helps with the needed bacteria that they need in their stomachs.
