Mabey if he was chewing on something that he was not to do he got something in his gut.You could use some mineral oil in his next bottle.Just a couple drops will be good as a little of that stuff goes a long way. That will get him loose if he is having a problem going!!

That one guy said:
Okay, So we got this fawn about a week ago, it was by itself on the highway, nothing else around it. There was flooding so it could've been washed down there. It was eating well for a few days, and then it kind of slowed down (it's only about two weeks old and it was eating around 12-8 oz a day), so when my grandfather came over because my parents were away, he thought that it absolutely had to eat, so he and my grandmother spend about an hour with it with a bottle, and eventually decided to feed it some cereal, which didnt seem like a good idea. Since they are my neighbors they took it to their house until the next morning. When they brought him back he was fine until about 3 hours later when he was really bloated, and stopped trying to play and stuff. He also stopped drinking. We called and asked what they had given him other than formula and they said oatmeal. He isnt drinking right now, i really need some help!

I can't tell you that you were wrong for picking up the fawn, because when I was young I thought about doing the same thing, and that is what my Uncle who lives in Wyoming does. But I can almost guarantee that it's technically illegal to do so. And trust me, if you ever see a fawn laying around looking lost, it isn't lost. It's mother knows exactly where it is, she's just not around because you are around. Rarely, if ever, do wild Does, especially, abandon their fawns. But that's beside the point.

Everyone has some pretty good input and advice. Good luck with the fawn. :)

He hasn't eaten since yesterday, and he is almost refusing to swallow, so I've pretty much written him off as dead. We're calling the conservation department, and I'll tell you guys how it works out. Thanks for all your help, but he really seems to have his heart set on dying.

squirts some baking soda and water down his throat it may be bloat. Give him some thaiamin and probiotics and see if that helps.

The best way to loosen them up is some kero syrup. It doesn't take much, maybe 1cc at the most.

id suggest giving him fawn probiotics, check your farm supply for first arrival, id give him 2g morning and night through 4-6 weeks old. if you have problems with him pooping mineral oil has always worked for us, we give it with a childrens medicine dropper. If he scours, we mix in some scours formula for goat kids in the milk, just about a 1/2 teaspoon a feeding. Also we have had luck with children's motrine in liquid form(dont ask me why this works but it does) Also make sure your formula your mixing if your are, isnt to thick, this will tend to bloat them or make them consitpated. If he is really bloated you can tube him to release the air, if your sure its air and not just a full belly. when the are really full we tend to cut back on a few feedings till they get to a nice size. hope some of this helps. Also ive read a childrens laxative in very minimal amounts will make him go, but be careful giving him to much of anything bc they it will turn into the runs and you can easily dehydrate them. finally make sure he has fresh dirt, water, and some clover to chew on at all times. give a call if you need any help.

Okay, I got back from a friends house to check on him, and his bloat was gone and he was hungry. He's eaten three ounces so far and shows no sign of stopping. He is a pretty mean little fawn.

if this fawn is still alive, try drenching him with mineral oil (or tube feeding it to him if you are experienced with this method) to help him pass the oatmeal. the oatmeal has probably absorbed alot of moisture from his system and has turned into a blob that he can't digest. drench with mineral oil every 4 hours or so and also give him 5-10 cc Probios. in addition you can get Goat Nutri-drench from a feed mill and give him that also. it will help with electrolite balance and any negative effects from the shock of being so sick. good luck.
