Ok I have decided that maybe I should have our deer feed mixed up, and the local feed store said if I could find a recipe he would mix it for me...any suggestions...also we are still waiting to see what the feed company is going to do about frosty...told them they have one more week then I am going to hire a lawyer and take that route

thanks for all the sympathy on his death and any type of feed formula would be greatly appreciated

Nancy:)

I pretty much asked the same ? But with no response does not appear that people like to talk much about feed. I deleted my thread after 120 hits no reply. I hope you get an answer. Good luck

Guy's I posted this earlier when Ram09 ask but there it is again

We are able to use screenings, which are the grain that gets damaged in handling, they are the same grain but in smaller pieces which doesn’t mater when it all goes through a hammer mill before pelleting. This makes the cost of the feed less by 130.00/tonne. We use “weed” screenings to bulk up the ration and add more fiber, weeds such as “wild oats”, “wild mustard” are great feed for deer, these also come from cleaning grain for export shipping or seed. One of the most important thing to watch is the ratio of minerals and nutrients , need to keep the balance

Curtis, I would be interested in seeing your feed mix as well. The file that you attached was a ratio of the minerals and the protiens. Do you have any list with the actual ration of the feed ingredients.

Here is my feed mix. We do tweek it occasionally doing the year. We change the corn and soybeans ratio during spring and fall. Starting in March we will change the corn to 500 and the soybeans to 550

600 whole corn

300 oats

400 38% dairy pellets

160 molasas

450 soy beans

25 minerals

50 auromycin

50 beet pulp

12 yeast

4 zinpro

field peas and lentils ( 32-34%) 1/3 of the ration if 14% 2/3 of the ration if 17%

oats , wheat and or barley (10-12%) 2/3 of the ration if 14% 1/3 of the ration if 17%

weed screenings to add fiber

balanced mineral pack ( double minerals for growing bucks, I would rather them pee the extra on the ground than pull it from their bones)

the mill tests the protein of the ingredients and adjusts to reach %protein

everything is run through a fine hammer mill and pelleted into a 3/16'' dia. pellet

the mill is able to keep the dust down by making a really durable pellet, the dust is less than 2% by weight
