Hi Everyone,

We're looking to put up a half acre pen (about 600 linear feet) this fall/winter. I'm wondering if someone can give me an estimate on how much that would cost ... per foot or overall would be fine. We're in central PA and looking to have someone install it for us. Obviously, there is a lot that goes into estimating the price, but I'm just looking for a ballpark. Thanks!

Last time I bought fence was around $400 a roll and that's 330 ft. Then 12ft posts every 20ft and then extras for the corners and gate opening ($24 each). So for 600ft you are going to look at around $1800-$2000 in materials. I am not sure of fence but other construction a good rule of thumb is double the material price for a full installed price. So installed I would guess around $4000 plus you need gates.

For a roll of Beckert fence, 330 ft., 8 ft. tall, 4" squares I paid $508 last summer. I have building lumber treated wood posts. 6X6 on corners, brace posts, and gate posts. Line posts are 4X4, all 12 ft. long. I built gates myself from 4X6 boards for frame, 2 swinging 5 ft. wide doors to make a 10 ft. wide gate. My Mennonite church youth boys built mine. A 330 ft pen with partition through middle, door frames for connection man doors, setting posts (in concrete) in approx. 6 hours. I had staked it out, marked where the posts had to go and with skid steer, post digger attached, tractor for stretching, brace wires and all it was done fast. I had to attach fencing to gate frames and eventually cut out the connection doors and finish those. Cost, without labor for it was around $1,500. I have closer post spacing than required and I found the hardware (hinges, locks, staples, 10" nails etc from TSC). to eat up a chunk of cash.
