My father-in-law and I own a 91 acre farm in Northwest Florida and would love to high fence our place. The goal in having the fence would be to hunt a little but really just enjoy having a small deer herd. Our farm is pretty thick overall and has a creek bordering 2 sides and a swamp bordering about 1/4 of another side. It is a seasonal creek so at times it is only a couple feet wide, at other times with heavy rains it could be 20-30 yards wide. The "long run" through the creek area would be about a 2,450 lf line. A conventional installation of 8' woven wire fencing with cleared trails would be VERY difficult given how thick the trees and understory is along the creek. Now to my question... I assume the likelihood of getting the "appropriate permits" through DEP, the Corps of Engineers and others would be unlikely but that's just my gut. I thought about a 8' polypropylene netting approach which might allow me to "fence" the area in without bulldozing a trail but believe the fence wouldn't be straight, might have gaps, might not last too long, etc.
Does anyone have any ideas they might be able to recommend or have experience in clearing trails through areas like this, permits, etc.?
Thanks for any anticipated help!!!
