We won our DNR case! Though the battle is not over, it is wonderful to have some positive news!! Thank you all for your support!! Tom and Rhonda

Rhonda this is great news! and congratulations.  We know they will appeal but it is 1 step in the right direction.  `

This means the judge ruled that DNR lacks jurisdiction to quarantine our 330DNR acre pr

operty for five years!

That is Great News!!! Pretty easy to appeal when your checkbook has no limit like the DNR. Keep your heads up, your headed in the right direction.

Congratulations Tom and Rhonda!!! This is a WIN for all of us as Deer Farmers!! A message to the Wildlife Agencies that we do have rights!!

I just read the Iowa deer harvest was the lowest its been since 2006, down the 8th straight year. Way to go QDMA, that's what happens when you preach day in and day out to shoot as many does as you can for a "healthy" herd. I guess it makes it easier to sell magazines selling foodplot seed when people are desperate to try and bring back the deer population they used to have. The problem with that theory is: Most people shoot the first antlerless deer on the field and it's usually a button buck. It's a fact that at least 1 in 3 antlerless deer are actually bucks and that number is most likely higher because most people won't admit it when they shot a button buck or fawn. Future trophy bucks, gone.  They don't seem to factor in the predator numbers are doubling in most states and that means fawn recruitment numbers are also going to be twice as low. Eventually you hit the point that fawn recruitment and the number of producing does that make it to the next year are below the number taken by hunters each year, it's simple math, numbers decline, harvests decline. This is where most states are right now, numbers continue to decline and they still need to sell licenses to make money for there budgets. It's hard for them to change because that would be admitting they were doing something wrong over the last 8 years. Heck, if we look hard enough and find a CWD animal and we can hype it up and blame it on that. The problem with the DNR controlling the wild deer is that 95% or more of them live on private lands in the Midwest. These DNR orgs. see there numbers and quality decline and the captive herds continues to improve and become more and more accepted.  Most people actually do want to see and shoot some deer when they go deer hunting. Seldom does anything run by the gov't work like it's intended. Private business and people simply do things better and the liberals can't stand that.

On Iowa news they said deer harvest 2013 was 100,000 deer lowest it has been since 1995.

DNR said there hands were tied and still need to reduce deer population due to crop damage and car accidents.

Wish we could get them off our backs that easy.

So why are the numbers down? What are they doing to encourage hunting and promote it, make it as easy as possible??? Marketing was never DNR's strong suit.

The Iowa dnr has been having public meetings lately looking  for the publics input. I don't know why just wasting their time and money again bottom line is the governor will do what he wants. Like last year when the dnr recommended that Iowa cut the quotas he just ignored them. Too bad we couldn't all just ignore the whole government sometimes.

Those public meeting are the DNR's way to get the public on their side.  If the public will buy all the lies and turn against the game farm industry they can make laws to hurt the industry, take private property rights from private property owners so they can expand their own business which is selling wildlife.

Numbers are down because of all the doe tags issued in past years. DNR claims they have to raise the quota on doe tags to appease the vehicle insurance companies and crop loss by farmers. Wish the DNR would help us out like they do the insurance companies and crop farmers, my deer are supporting the crop farmers with all the feed that I buy for them, and they aren't getting hit by cars on the road because they are in my pens.

Missouri is not any different . They hand out doe tags as long as you will buy them.

My issue is even deeper than that. The same farmer that gets a crop damage check or gets a nuisance permit to kill x amount of deer they leave to rot has there farm posted No Hunting. I would like to see those nuisance deer handed over to feed the hungry.

If you get an insurance check for crop loss maybe they should have to let the land be hunted.

Brent, Be careful what you wish for, our Game fish department started giving out doe tags for next to nothing and then gave the processors a voucher to pay for the processing if they donated the deer to the hungry. Hunters can go shoot a truck load of antlerless deer and barely get there hands dirty. Antlerless deer became targets like prairie dogs and now they are pretty much gone on anything public or where farmers don't want any deer around. The Game fish dept. doesn't allow non-resident buck gun hunting on the east half of the state(farm country) so the farmers can't sell any hunts or lease there land out for some crop damage compensation. Most of these farmers wouldn't mind deer around if they could sell a few hunts to help compensate for crop damage. Our Game Fish & parks is made up of a bunch of Wildlife Federation Liberals who would rather see nobody hunt then have a farmer or rancher sell a hunt for money. They hate anything that has to do with commercial hunting. It's pretty ironic that they are the states biggest commercial operation, only difference is someone ELSE pays all the bills for pretty much everything like habitat, feed, etc.. This is one of the reasons they hate this industry so bad, they think someone else is making money off of wildlife and it AIN"T them. It also drives them crazy they aren't in complete control.

I was only talking about the deer shot and left to rot.

We have same problem with the voucher and the low cost of doe tags at only $7

It was only about 20 years ago you had to draw a doe tag. Today you can buy all you want.

I was told our deer heard is down about 56% do to over harvest and E.H.D.

I am told there will be some changes this year we will just have to see.
