Looking for any info or tips from you all who have experience lap ai your deer. Thanks to everyone willing to respond!

Here is a standard program for AI of deer.  I've had a number of people ask for it from Email so thought it would be of interest to the industry.  I provide 10 days of flushing which is nothing more than better food and grain and a fresh pasture before we start setting up the does for AI.  After ten day you may start this program.  Flushing is a very good way to help the animal get ready for breeding.

Day one we give 5cc vit AD&E SQ and 1cc BO-SE and implant the CIDR  worm with ivermic Do this at 9am

Day 14 we pull the CIDR and give 1cc 200 IU folligon to adult does 1 1/4 cc to yearlings or old does that are only giving single fawns  We also give the AD&E at 3cc SQ and give a shot of Vit E 3cc  do this at 11pm

Day 17 at 9 am we start AI This will give a start time of 58 hours for your AI project.

Any question email me.

I get all the Vits in this program from www.pbsanimalhealth.com

You can get the CIDRS and PMSG from me.

Backyard my contact information is on my post.  Both a email and web site.

No, thank you backyardbuck for making your order with me.  That is how I started.  But the man to thank is Roger Pietrowski because he got me to help everyone.

Roger and I were talking and he wanted to know how I was able to have these hard to get items.  As I told Roger I had been ordering for ten years for myself.  A simple question from Roger was can you help me.  Sure I said and fixed Roger up.  A couple weeks later Roger called and asked if I could help a few of his Wisconsin friends out sure I said.  Well as you all know I now help most of the deer and elk industry so Roger got me a new job.  I thought this was interesting on how this all started.  So thanks Roger.

Thanks Jack. It has been a lot of years in this industry. We have seen a lot of new things come and go together. Seen a lot of deer growers come and go as well. We have seen the full cycle of the industry as well. When I started fawns were $200 a piece. The "high dollar" stuff was this place called the Flees farm. They had fawns for $500 each. From there we have seen the market grow and climb to where fawns sold for $20k to $30k pretty normally. And now here we are again with fawns at just a couple hundred dollars each. Disregard the bogus fixes at various auctions where the game is you buy mine and I will buy yours for big money so we can charge crazy prices off the farm to those we have tricked into thinking our deer have better value. It has been a good ride Jack. And I will get out there to your place one of these days!

Thank you Jack for taking good care of the industry. Without you it is unlikely the majority would even be able to do AI.

Take care and, "HI JACK!!!"

Inside joke. ;)

Doesn't increasing the folligon increase the likelihood of multiple births?  just wondering why you give more to yearlings than the adults.

Thanks

Truth,

Yes folligon really only produces eggs and to much will make quads or triplets.  When we have a adult doe that only has one fawn she should be given a little more folligon to help her produce a extra egg for fertilization.

Yearling does have never had a fawn and her system is not working as well as an adult doe.  Cidrs state on them they should not be used on a sheep that have not had a lamb.  But Cidrs seem to work on our yearling does because this is their natural time in nature to get pregnant.  It has been my experience yearling does need a little bump to make sure they produce eggs.  Out by me it seems this has worked well for me with twins being produced mostly and a few triplets.  I pull a triplet fawn to bring that yearling down to twins so as not to drain her from feeding those fawns.

I give those vitamins because vitamin E is very good for stress and production and vitamin AD&E works well for reproduction also.  I give all deer shipped out of here vitamin E when we test them as I believe it will help stop capture shock from stress.
