Fly Pour On ?

I have heard of a fly pour on for cattle to keep the flies off of them. Does anyone know if these are safe for deer and which ones would work. I was hoping to use something like this on my tame deer to give them some relief. The flies are really bad here now and I was hoping this would be a option.

I had tried a lot of products and the deer hate them...I have seen people put it on paint rollers and the deer rub them when they eat from a trough getting the stuff on them.

I have not done that...

What I tried was the fly tags.I put them in my fawns. I put their number in and where the state tag will go I put a bug tag...They are only good for a few months ...But they work great I tried them on a few fawns...I wish I had done them all if I put a deer down near spring or during summer my big deer will get one as their farm tag and I will just keep renewing them as needed for bug season they are blank.They are blank orange tags.

I have a friend in Comstock, Tx that uses the preditor flies... he says after a year you will have to search to find one... long term if you stick to a year he says it works... long term

It must be the upper midwest Dave. About 5 days ago it started here also. It is driving them all nuts. I am ready to start spraying or whatever it takes. If anyone has any options please let me know.

This has been one of the worst years I can remember for flys here in PA. I spray the pens and have roughly 5 one gallon milk jug traps per pen that get filled up within a few weeks. I can't say that it's done a whole lot to relieve the problem, but it makes me feel better to see tens of thousands of flys dead in the milk jugs... they still manage to annoy the heck out of the deer.

I tried the fly predators a few years back, but probably didn't stick with it long enough to notice a big difference.

Permectin! Spray deer with watergun or garden sprayer several times a day, or get a mist system installed around the perimiter of your pens.

I use Cylence pour on. Works well for 4-6 weeks.

Can you pick up Cylence pour on at a farm supply store and do you use twice as much for deer than the cattle dose? Also is it effective for them flat looking flies that seem to land on their head?

For your bottle feds, you can use spot-on which is a horse product that comes in a small plastic vial. We put a drop between their ears and a couple down their spine and there are hardly any flies on them for days. Rain can wash it off requiring application sooner. It ain't cheap but it works very well. I get it at TSC.

Can you pick up Cylence pour on at a farm supply store and do you use twice as much for deer than the cattle dose? Also is it effective for them flat looking flies that seem to land on their head?

I get it from my vet. I just go by the dosage on the bottle. On my bottle feds I use a small dropper or syringe and put it on their back between the shoulders. Best of all it doesn't wash off in a rain. Works very well.
