We are not breeders or have ever dealt with deer. A tiny fawn came to our home yesterday, crying. We picked her up then heard and saw momma so we put her back near the woods. 5 hours later baby came back to us. This time we got her, washed her and noticed she was wound and infested with maggots on her rear. Cleaned her best we could and felt it should try to find mom. Baby survived the night and came back to us so we said we would do all we could to help her.
We got goats milk to try and bottle feed her. Not going well, she won't take nipple or suck. We have been doing rinses of her wounds and narrowed it down to flystrike/ myiasis. She is pretty lethargic.
Anyone deal with this on their own? What do we need to do?
