We started with whitetail deer as permitted rehabilitators. We have enjoyed watching the two deer fawns grow and enjoy life so much that we are considering expanding our operation to rescue goats. anyone have experience with this?

Recommendations?

Goat compete for food and browse against the deer and are more hard headed than the deer and will push deer from the feeders... My Whitetails have access to food 24/7 and with goats they take advantage of this and would hit the deer when they came to eat...I got rid of my two a few years ago because of all the problems.I also had Mouflon and they did the same thing.

Best of luck with what every you decide...but I for one don't recommend it.

I've also heard that goats can carry diseases that may not effect the goat but could kill a whitetail. Rick

There are disease issues... but I can't remember what they were

it will come to me soon:rolleyes:...feed issues can also arise...Sheep can't have the amounts of copper in the deer feed

Appreciate the inputs. I'll take it under consideration before we decide, but appears due to the feeding issues it may not be such a good idea. Thanks yawl.
