I originally had this thread titled under "Lice?", but decided to start a new one after my daughter took pictures of the doe fawn, which I will be posting. She has moderate hair loss on her neck and the top of of her back near the shoulders. It has spread to her nose and sides of her face after originating on her ears, where hair is beginning to return after using Ivomec, Duracet, and a powdered lice product. She has even scratched some places raw, i.e. until they bleed. She's in a chain link fence with no possible way to get her head/neck through any opening. Here's some pics, please help me! Any suggestions are greatly needed and appreciated!

Can you shampoo her with a fungicidal shampoo and rinse her real well. I don't know what this is, but I have shampood my girl before many times with fungicidal shampoos and have sprayed her too. I would also make sure that I was feed her a nice quality deer pellet like Purina's Deer Chow, and perhaps place a mineral block (acorn flavored is nice) in her pen to see if she might be mineral deficient in any way. If she starts licking that mineral block like crazy, this might be an indication that she is missing some minerals in her feed. Do you feed her with plenty of browse like leaves, twigs, dandelion leaves, etc? just thought i'd mention the possibility of nutrition as well. My Rosa also was on deer milk replacer for a long time and during that time she had no major problems. I will post pics later today so that you can see how bad her hair loss is around her neck. She is not scratching at it though...

Will look in to the fungus shampoo.

She is being raised on concrete so we do put out fresh alfalfa for her and, occasionally, clover. She's just been weened off of her formula, but she is on feed which consists of sunflower seeds, a mineral pellet, calf manna, roasted soy beans, and corn (although she doesn't eat the corn). We do, also, give her two slices of whole wheat bread a day, which we will bump up to three because she is off the bottle.

Any other thoughts would be great.

Do any of you guys think that Ivomec used orally will cure the problem? .10cc per 10lbs of body weight every day until it clears? It works on dogs for fungal infections, mites, fleas and ticks. Just a thought......For all I know, Ivomec may be bad for deer orally.

Ivermectin given subq will kill mites, lice and mange, in addition to a host of other parasites. Follow-up shot in one month.

For liver fluke eradication use Ivermectin Plus.
