Wayne,

Thanks for keeping us up to date. I certainly wish I could attend this meeting. This should be a top priority for all deer farmers across the country.

How can we help you Wayne? Will they take emails or letters from us? Do you have talking points to keep a united message? Is there representation from nadefa?

Sorry for all of the questions, but I want to get up to speed quickly with your/OUR situation

I will be available later today. Let's talk.

Glad to hear things went good. Please keep the rest of us informed.

Couldn't get a better line up on your side, than what you had.

It just seems alot of guys sooner brag about big bucks instead of getting involed.

Let us know what we can help do.

If the state of Missouri needs any help from Whitetail Exchange, we are here to help. Im not real good at the politics stuff, but I sure can help you raise some money if you need it. Just get in touch with me and we will do anything we can. Scott and I are behind you 100%.

Todd

Good job. We will be here to rally. Keep us posted. We appreciate who attented. Let's keep the fight up. Let us know the people in charge that need to be contacted. Again thanks.

Todd we are going to be asking for your help. Can you give me a call as soon as possible, 660.342.5851. We have some things coming down the pipe and we need everyone's help! Thanks for lending a hand when needed.

Im sure shawn and the gang are keeping a close eye on whats going on. He has been there for us when we needed him and many others im sure. We all need to keep an eye on all thats going down. With all these rule changes and Ehd slamin some it sure does make a guy wonder.

I would have loved to have been at the hearing but the earliest I could get to St Louis was 8:04 AM which would have pushed it to make it to the hearing by 10:30 and the ticket cost with one day notice was almost a $1000 with the taxes. I called Donald, Sam, Bill, Rusty and Whitney and was told that JCAR and the Secretary of State was supportive of our industry and as was pointed out in a earlier post that this is just the tip of the ice berg and the real fight is yet to come.

NADeFA has been involved in this process since it started and is 100 % behind the deer industry in Missouri and I really am baffled as to why anyone would think we wouldn’t think this is important?

The most important people that the legislators and regulators can hear from are the citizens of Missouri! Every cervid farmer in the state needs to get involved. The Missouri Association is working this hard and Sam James is a supper asset, please give them your support but don’t make them do it alone.

I would love to tell everyone what to do next, but the real answer right now is to give the lawyers time to do case research and then guide us through the process. NADeFA's major roll in this process will be to help raise the funds and to help provide the scientific facts and recommend the experts in their respective fields. NADeFA has been and will continue to do whatever is possible to be at every hearing that our state associations ask us to assist in.

This is not just a Missouri issue; this is an issue that affects us all.

I received a text message from Sam James last night stating the the Secretary of State denied the emergency rule! This is very good news for the deer breeders in Missouri, but is only a temporary fix....there will be more battles in this state in the future, that you can be assured. They especially need our financial assistance right now, so I would encourage all associations to contribute to their legal fund. You can also count on this same battle at the Federal level as well. A line has been drawn in the sand and if our industry is to survive without being regulated out of business we all will have to decide what is important.

The law was on the side of the deer breeders and special thanks needs to go to Sam James for pursuing the legality of the emergency rule! The wildlife agency abused their power with the emergency rule. One of the best parts of the hearing was when the Senate committee leader asked the commissioner if he had also placed a moratorium on the wild elk coming into Missouri and his answer was no. She then went on to tell him how this was an obvious double standard! Another great part of the hearing was that the cattleman's association testified on behalf of the deer breeders....this is huge to have the cattle industry on our side!

Rest assured, there is a movement nationwide attacking the deer industry and everyone needs to get involved at some level.

The National PR website will be up and running in the next couple of weeks and the promotional video will be ready in approximately six weeks for all to use when talking to the public and your legislators. Never has this campaign been more important than it is right now.

This is VERY good news for all deer farmers, but as Laurie mentioned, it's only the beginning of the fight.

From the details I've heard, it sounds like JCAR has been incredibly influential in stopping this, and they should be praised for their efforts... no doubt they will be needed moving forward.

To everyone involved in this fight, you have my greatest appreciation and gratitude for standing up for our industry. Please know that I am here to support your efforts and will be happy to help any way that I can.

To the rest of the deer farmers reading or following this situation, PLEASE know that this could be on your front door step tomorrow, and we must support Missouri as if it were our own state. If your head is in the sand, pull it out, stand up, and let your voice or wallet be heard!

Best to you all,

Mike

I just wanted to say thanks to all the people that have worked in this battle with the Missouri Department of Conservation. This battle in Missouri is very important to ALL the states and the future of deerfarming!

First of all i would like to say thanks for the members of JCAR ( Joint Committee on Administrative Rules) that came to bat for us when we needed them. We had a few members out to our hunting preserve and showed them how our small family owned business was operated. They left more educated and with a better understanding of how deerfarming is a great form of alternative agriculture. We have had several members from the legislature out to our operation and have taken every opportunity to educate everyone about what we as deerfarmers stand for. Call your state rep and the people that hear your voice in your area. If we don't educate the people, someone will!!!!

We have also been fortunate to have help from associations such as Missouri Cattlemens Association and Farm Bureau. I would like to say we are happy to be a part of their team!!

As for the people involved in this fight, there are way too many to name-but you know who you are. We have had people attending CWD meetings put on by the Conservation Department, and a special thanks to all those who have attended the hearings involving our deer farming livelihood.

Thanks,

kurt humphrey
