My best 2011 buck (now 8mo old and about 70 lb) survived blue tongue when he was 3mo. Yesterday he separated from the crowd and seemed somewhat sad and lethargic. He was also coughing quite a bit. Could this be pneumonia?

The vet recommended 1cc of banamine and 2cc draxxin which we gave last night but saw little effect this mornng. Any thoughts?

Thanks

Ed

Ed, You will not see quick results using only Draxxin. If it is pneumonia I would recommend using Baytril 100 along with the Draxxin. The two work quiet well together for our farm.

He seemed a little better a few hours ago. Already at the water tank and back with the group but we went ahead and gave him 1cc banamine, 2cc baytril and some vitamins. Hopefully this will do the trick.

Should I wait another day before I give him draxxin again and complete the treatment or just stop with one single shot of draxxin?

Thanks

ed, are you having to dart him every time you treat????

Ed, Draxxin is a long lasting drug 5-7 day coverage. If you are darting him? I would wait till day 4 to do it again........................Just my opion!

Good Luck

Yes we are darting him. He is tame enough to get to a few feet from him so we use very little dart gun pressure. We could use the chute but wanted to avoid moving the rest of the animals just for one shot. I will see how he is doing in the morning once the baytril and the second shot of banamine kicks in. Thanks for your comments
