HB 545 -- Assault Weapons and Large Capacity Magazines Sponsor: Ellinger
This bill prohibits any person, corporation, or other entity in the state from manufacturing, importing, possessing, purchasing, selling, or transferring any assault weapon or large capacity magazine, as specified in the bill. Any violation of these provisions is a class C felony.
These provisions do not apply to a government officer, agent, or employee, member of the United States Armed Forces, or peace officer to the extent the person is otherwise authorized to acquire or possess an assault weapon or large capacity magazine and does so while acting within the scope of his or her duties; the manufacture of an assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device by a properly licensed firearms manufacture for sale to any branch of the United States Armed Forces or any law enforcement agency in the state for its use; or the sale or transfer of an assault weapon or large capacity ammunition feeding device by a properly licensed dealer to any branch of the United States Armed Forces or a law enforcement agency in the state for its use in law enforcement.
The bill specifies that any person who was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine prior to the effective date of these provisions will have 90 days to remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from the state, render the assault weapon permanently inoperable, or surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the appropriate law enforcement agency for destruction.

Well we knew it was coming.....we need to contact our legislators as Brad mentioned above and. Voice our thoughts.......the only ones this will effect are the honest people....and the criminals who use them for murder do not fall into that category......I just can't understand how simple minded the people are that are supposed to be running this country......definitely scary stuff!

Gee I wonder where Ellinger (the bill sponsor) is from? St. Louis...Big surprise! When we see bills like this you have to be on alert yet not get too crazy....
It always amazes me how the liberals in the urban areas want to push their agendas on the rest of us. I think I will look him up and tell him just that.
Remember, Anyone can introduce and sponsor a bill......If I could find someone to sponsor it I could write and introduce a bill to outlaw driving at night for everyone over 50...LOL

We are very conservative in Missouri. We just have to deal with KC, St. Louis, Springfield, and Columbia.
I am watching and waiting for some bills to show up that will tell Washington what we think of their UN-constitutional controlling. And another with the right to farm and ranch. And a few surprises. We will see how those do.

The 2nd ammendment has nothing to do with hunting. It was for the populas to be able to overthrow their own government if ever need be. The left wants to make it about hunting to justify taking the guns and controlling the people.
Personally, I had never believed people needed high capacity magazines but did not care if a law abiding citizen had one. My thoughts have drastically changed in the last few years with the deception of our government. We may indeed need them for the very purpose the 2nd ammendment was written! I have recently purchased my first assualt rifle and plenty of high capacity magazines to go with it. I hope we never need such a weapon but our founding fathers were smart enough to know we, the people, should be very well armed.
Don't be fooled about this issue. It has absolutely nothing to do with hunting! It is all about control of the people. The people in this state should not only fight this bill but do everthing it takes to throw the bastards that sponsor or support this bill out of office.
The left sees the timing as being right with the recent shootings to try to take your guns away. They know if the liberals get their ultimate dream of redistrisbution on a grand scale there will be an uprising. With the media deception in their corner, they have the best chance they have ever had to accomplish a redistribution of assets. They sure don't want an armed uprising.
If facts were presented in the media this would be a non issue. The mass killings that have happened are terrible but there was more people killed with a hammer last year than guns. Maybe we should ban hammers. Wait, better yet we should use the hammers on the lying media.
