True Hunters Hate Trophy Hunters...It is against everything a true hunter is taught...

What does High fence Promote TROPHY'S

IF WE SOLD THE HUNT INSTEAD OF THE RACK!!! I feel we would be Good!!

If we had a preserve that Promotes Deer size for eating, reasonable fee's for shooting,And Huge Acreage... Ect...We could get more hunters

Yes... But most offer a Nice 8-10 point buck on the cover.

Not one that can't hold it's head up,Or dies at 2 or 3 years...

That is inhumane to most.

We Are Or Should be Stewarts of and for these Great animals who are in trusted in our care.

Anytime people get into Animals for Money Lines get Blurred!!

And even People who get into for one reason or another, Can end up chasing the old mighty dollar sign.

People need to quit feeding into the frenzy or deer will be like puppy mills.

People are Whining a deer only brought $40,000 Um...OK Damn...Life Sucks????

Some people in this "business" want it to work because they have to much money into it for it not to...Other want it to work because they love it!!!

I quit coming on here because too many are into for nothing but money...You don't hear A fawn is sick IT needs help...It's I paid 3 grand for this deer save it.

There are Great deer farmers out there.... But there are people in it only for the money.

The people only in it for money DO NOT CARE What happens after they get their money Like a pyramid scheme.

DEFINITION

A pyramid scheme is a non-sustainable business model that involves promising participants payment primarily for enrolling other people into the scheme, rather than from any real investment or sale of products or services to the public. A successful pyramid scheme combines a fake yet seemingly credible business with a simple-to-understand yet sophisticated-sounding money-making formula which is used for profit. The essential idea is that a "con artist" Mr. X, makes only one payment. To start earning, Mr. X has to recruit others like him who will also make one payment each. Mr. X gets paid out of receipts from those new recruits. They then go on to recruit others. As each new recruit makes a payment, Mr. X gets a cut. He is thus promised exponential benefits as the "business" expands.

Such "businesses" seldom involve sales of real products or services to which a monetary value might be easily attached. However, sometimes the "payment" itself may be a non-cash valuable. To enhance credibility, most such scams are well equipped with fake referrals, testimonials, and information. The flaw is that there is no end benefit. The money simply travels up the chain. Only the originator (sometimes called the "pharaoh") and a very few at the top levels of the pyramid make significant amounts of money. The amounts dwindle steeply down the pyramid slopes. Individuals at the bottom of the pyramid (those who subscribed to the plan, but were not able to recruit any followers themselves) end up with a deficit.

IF WE DON'T MAKE OUR PRODUCTS A RESONABLE PRICE FOR THE TRUE MARKET OF HUNTING OUR DEER....WE WILL BE A PYRAMID SCHEME CAUSE NOT TOO MANY CAN AFFORD TO SHOOT $10,000-$100,000 DOLLAR DEER...

So why are we (as an industry) striving to breed those???

Then complain about business When we have advertised and marketed and grew our selves the wrong way!!

Well that's Just How I feel....

You are spot on billy Jo!!!! Deer farming will not improve till this recession/depression eases up!! And I hate to be the bearer of bad news but it never will unless all farmers start breeding less deer!! At least till the economy and market catches up to all the excess shooters... you can open all the preserves in the world , if hunters are strapped for cash they will hold off on hunts, unless there dirt cheap and farmers dont want that either... but were breeding as much as ever and this flood will continue! I know that some dont want to here this but were breeding ourselves right out of business!!! Am I gonna practice what I preach ? Yes!! I have 8 good does, Im breeding 3 this year, I know its a drop in the bucket and you can bash me all you want! I was born at night but not last night... I see whats coming if things dont change and I feel very strong about this!!! This is not whining Im trying to open some eyes or take some blinders off!!

While i agree Billie jo you do have some very good pionts but I don't completel agree. We as an industry need to offer something different than the typical average jo hunter gets from a open land hunt. One of the brst things we can offer is better quality deer!! Do they have to be deer that can;t hold their heads up...absolutely not.....but they do need to be of better quality than what you see out in the open range.......otherwise, there is not anything to sell. yes ther are some other great points you can bring up for the preserve hunts ....but better quality is one of the main reasons most come to hunt high fence .......and for us to lose sight of that would be not good for the industry!!

If the price gets low enough the people that are "into for nothing but money" will get out of it and you can be happy.

The whole reason I quit coming on here was because you need to type 20 pages before you could even begin to cover every base and no matter how you say thing people read things into them wrong..... and get things out of it you never meant.

Everybody continue to fight and see where that gets us.

Peace out...

If anyone needs me you know my number!!

I will be happy at home with my deer and family ;)

I think billy is very passionate about deer and should not be taken the wrong way!! She see"s things that are not good going on and makes good points,I think she also is raising deer for the love of it! I myself know some hunting ranch owners and they have big acreage hunting ranches but there are some way to small ! I know ranch owners that have great quality deer, but there are some that are crap and these few will hurt all!! Mike gee who owns tioga ranch told me last year that the hunters that shot bucks on his ranch that came from birchcreek were very exited about the large bodies!! big racks and big bodies that is a win win combination, so size does matter!!! we all see these big racks on small deer and it dont look right so again another good point from billy.... the last good point she makes is over breeding! Anybody that had economics 101 in school learned that companies that produced more product than there was demand for that said product...caused the price to DROOOOOP!!! common sense people so cut the girl some slack!! She has helped alot of people on these forums including myself so dont let a few negative comments cause you to stop posting BillyJo!! I feel everyones opinion should be heard no matter if we agree or not without getting a smart ass remark!!!Like rodney king once said: CANT WE ALL JUST GET ALONG!!!!!

Neeby........I know billie Jo myself as well and have been to her farm a few times....... also do not feel any of my previous posts were negative in any way...in fact i said she had brought up some very good points..........so i have know i dea where your coming form with the cut her some slack comment......Billie jo if you took my comment regarding the fact that our indistry should in fact continue to grow big bucks so we have a superiour product to offer over what the hunters can get in the wild then I am sorry......maybe you are the one who is reading the post the wrong way............I thought threads were put on here for either questions or discussions? Anyhow, nothing I said I feel was offensive or negative so where ever her last comment is coming from i have not a clue?!!!

I disagree with your first statement in the following way; If I hunted only meat, I would likely settle for a young deer that is pretty easy to hunt. But. I hunt to improve the herd. So, either a spike or a 4-6 year old. And the 4-6 year old is absolutely a trophy. BTW, responding to the customer desire to shoot a deer with a decent rack is just that. Responding to the customer. If the customer base wants to shoot just for meat, he can do so at most ranches in texas for about $300... the cost of a exotic doe. No way can that ever pay my costs in running a ranch. And huge acreage is a cost problem as well. Land averages about $2000 an acre across the nation, so a 10000 acre ranch is over $20,000,000! Not sure that works either. Last point, why have a preserve with all that land? Just let the hunter take small deer at low prices. But, hunters will not pay much for small deer...
