upstate ny
I hope someone can fill me in!!!! Today we had to tb test a yearling doe that came back suspect back in june. She came back on the edge of the line so they asked if we would be ok with another test in 90 days.
So the state vet comes at 8am she is darted and he shaved her in the 2 spots like the norm. All is well, We reverse her and she is back up and feeding by 9am. We ask what test he used for the tb and he said he used both the reg tb stuff and the avian also. Reg test on the top shave and the bird stuff on the bottom shave. I come home at noon and she is down on the ground kinda flopin and cant get up. By the time i get in the pen to her she is Dead.
State vet comes back, does all his so called stuff he has to do. Look for tb (found none) Pulled cwd sample. We skinned her neck to look for any problems and found no signs of injury. He says she died of a reaction from the test. Has anyone ever heard of a vet giving a deer both kinds of tb test at the same time. So far nobody i have talked to have has ever heard of such a thing!!!
