As an outfitter here in the northeast that has predominantly been known for "fair chase" hunting. We have or HAD a good relationship with QDMA. I will be making a phone call tomorrow.

Deer farmers as well I found this article, especially the 1st half very offensive.

Thought others may wanna read it.

Murphy is a joke. If you ever get on QDMA website or their facebook page, Go ahead and ask him how they can make statements like this but then every year at their fundraisers they auction off 2 or 3 high fence hunts for big dollars. These QDMA guys are as two faced as they come!! One of them even has intrest in a high fence operation in Pa...Go Figure!

The article says:

But hunters who stalk deer through the woods and take them down the old-fashioned way are seeing their records obliterated by deer created by breeders and set free in enclosed areas for weekend warriors to bring down – and mount in mancaves back home.

I don't believe farmed raised cervids can be entered in the record books or Bonne and Crocket. The purpose of a smear campaign or negative attack ad is to create doubt.

Also read the comments. In North Dakota we had the very same thing happen. We had to baby sit every newspaper that had a comment section. We even caught a guy from the Humane Society in DC blogging on our sites in ND. You have to pound (dominate) the boards.

"The old-fashioned way? Who hunts the "old fashioned way"? Game cameras, food plots, guns, scopes, and ammo, that are so sophisticated they can't miss. Where's the fair-chase in that? Yet these people judge us?

Yah, Seriously, If I have a giant buck on my farm I want, a rifle, spotting scope and 3 days to hunt him, he's dead. Me with a rifle and a deer without one isn't really very fair!!! Most of these clowns are Wildlife Federation non-landowners who think the world owes em a place to hunt for nothing. They hate any kind of commercial hunting, high fence or no fence. They don't understand that to have anything quality, it costs money. I do about 16 trophy free range hunts a year and it always costs me more to plant foodplots and supplemental feed the deer then I've ever took in from clients. I do it because I love growing big bucks, and yes it costs a lot of money to do it. Luckily there is people who appreciate all the hard work and the costs it takes to grow them. They contribute by booking a hunt. These same clowns all hate pheasant preserves and claim they only hunt wild birds yet most of the lazy a$$es just drive circles around the pheasant preserves hoping to whack a free released rooster out of the ditch next to the lodge. I've always said, If you had a drawing for a FREE 200" trophy buck hunt at your preserve, everyone of these clowns would apply for it and go hunt it if they won. They are envious of anybody who pays to hunt, other wise why would they give a crap, it doesn't affect them. They should be dam happy there is preserves otherwise more of these same people would be leasing even more of the other areas and applying for more of the limited draw state deer tags that they are applying for.

I just remembered what it is called when a handful of pretend sportsmen use several psuedo names and keep posting the same message on several sites. "Astroturfing"

sdbigbucks, you are absolutely right. The wildlife federation is made up of mostly "sidewalk outdoorsmen" who get led around and fed a steady diet.

North Dakotas president of the wildlife federation is Mike McEnroe, retired biologist from the US Fish and Wildlife service. Mike is also predident of the Bismarck Lewis and Clark Club and lobbyist for the Wildlife Society.

Past president of the ND wildlife federation was David Brandt, fed/gov biologist for the US Geological Survey and still president of the Stutsmans County wildlife federation.

The NDWF has a few directors. One H.Thomas Sklebar is and he also worked for the fed/gov at the USGS. The list is long.

These men or types of men pull the strings on the puppet show. They get the sidewalk outdoorsmen to do their bidding.

If you are at a public forum, identify them, if you figure out a blogger that is yelling from behind the dumpster on an internet site is one of these fellas, you out them.

Hey sdbigbucks, do you still miss Tony Dean?

Sounds like these hunters are promoting "Obama deer" !!! These same people would criticize government programs, but they want more "free" hunting or government subsidized hunting for themselves, yet criticize private industry???

Gary

I will guarantee you every one of the Game Fish & Parks employees and Wildlife Federation members in my state that oppose private preserves and high fence hunting all still apply for the once in a lifetime Custer State park elk, bighorn sheep, mountain goat licenses. The park is High Fenced. They would LOVE to have a guaranteed Opportunity at a trophy animal and what better place then a park that has several million visitors each year feeding them popcorn and carameled apples right out the camper window. THEY WOULD LOVE IT BECAUSE ITS FREE, other then the license cost and they still manage to whine about the $5 application fees!!! I'm NOT joking either!!! The bad part of the "wildlife federation" is that most of the people who join don't even know there agenda, they really think they are helping wildlife. Most of our new legislators and representatives actually listen to there 2 full time lobbyists thinking they are part of a group who is helping wildlife and vote for the things the federation wants. Thankfully most of em (republicans anyways) figure it out after a session or 2 what the agendas really are, socialized hunting access like Gary says.
