Mike, the link you posted didn't work for me so I posted the link I had saved in case others have problems. I have been looking at this, and other papers and trying to find if there is a correlation between areas known to have sheep scrapies and cwd. I read that deer in fact can be infected by scrapie...my question is our the symptoms seen in the testing for cwd the same as seen for scrapie. In other words could a deer have scrapie and they call it a cwd positive. Same type of disease...either way not good. However I also read that there were over 950 flocks of sheep that were scrapie positive throughout the country (1999 data). Could this be part of the reason that "cwd" is popping up sporadically in the USA? I may be completely off track but I was on a mission last night and read countless pieces on this subject; anyone else have any thoughts?
