Independence Ranch is very happy and proud to announce that IR Dolly has returned to WI from Dream Ranch in PA. In Jan I purchased back at the Top 30 sale 1/2 ownership in Dolly. Thank you to Will for this opportunity.

Dolly was built by me and born in 2005.

In 2006 I A/I'ed her to Big Guy. In her first set of fawns (triplets, all boys) she produced Updraft 317"@3 and Downdraft 225"@3. Their womb brother died at birth.

In 2007 she was A/I'ed to PJ and had a set of quads. In some really crappy luck we lost all but the one doe who was sold as a fawn during the Select 30 portion of the Top 30 sale. Thank you to Michael Peters, Phil Hinch and Steve Smith.

In 2008 she was A/I'ed again to Big Guy and had a set of twins. One buck and one doe. The buck died in July as he was growing out his first rack. When he died he was already wider, heavier, and had longer tines than both Updraft and Downdraft did grown out at age 1. His loss was quite disappointing. The doe is named Izzy and in March of 2011 she was sold bred to Cardiac Kid. Phil Hinch now owns this awesome girl.

In 2009 she was A/I'ed to Poncho and produced a healthy set of triplet daughters. One was offered in the Top 30 sale and purchased by Dream Ranch. The other 2 were also purchased by Will Ainsworth and taken to Dream Ranch in PA.

In the fall of 2010 Dolly was A/I'ed to Hardcore and in March of 2011 became entirely owned by Dream Ranch along with her son Updraft and moved to PA. Will has a real nice looking Hardcore son out of her who turns 2 this coming spring. Watch for this coming breeder buck!

To my understanding Dolly was then A/I'ed to Cardiac Kid in 2011 and did in fact take yet again.

To date, Dolly has taken every single year. I am excited to see what fawns are born this spring as she was A/I'ed to Flees' Reggie. This is not only a good cross for line breeding but also will make the fawns 3/4 brothers and sisters to Cardiac Kid!

I am very pleased to again be partnered with Will Ainsworth on this powerhouse doe and to have back in the fold some of my proudest accomplishments in the deer industry. IR Dolly along with her granddaughter Cardizzy are some of the very foundation of my newly rebuilt Independence Ranch operation. A special thank you goes out to Michael Peters and Phil Hinch for selling me back Cardizzy who is the doe fawn out of Cardiac Kid and Izzy when I sold her bred to them.

For anyone who might have forgotten the exact breeding here is the pedigree for Dolly and it shows how she is bred this year.

Pictured is Dolly today as she walked off the trailer. :)

Thank you for looking.

Hey I helped Rick and Jason run her into the handling facility this fall to pull cidrs!!!

Congratulations Roger! I'm sure it feels good to get her home. I know she's a key part of your program!

Best of Luck

Congrats! Thanks for sharing the story, great read.

Roger, congrats on having her back home. You have told us what she has been bred to but what I want to know is what you are thinking about breeding her to this fall. I know you must have something in mind.

Dan

Congrats Roger. I know how much she means to you. She is a great doe and we are excited to see what Izzy will do in our program. She is definatly bred to Bucky Jr so I have my fingers crossed. Wish you the best. Michael

It was great to see your excitement as we unloaded her off the trailer last week! I am very glad that you were the one that went partners with us on Dolly and were able to bring her back to your farm. Thanks again Roger, keep in touch!

Thank you to everyone for understanding my excitement over purchasing Dolly back. It really is great! Laurie even had to come over the following day to my new farm to visit her. I was curious as to whether or not Dolly might recall her. It was amazing to see the reaction. Dolly came all the way from the back of the pen and walked up to get kisses and hugs from Laurie. No one could deny the bond those 2 have.

It was great to meet you and your dad Jason and yes I am very happy to be partnered up with Dream Ranch once again.

Yes we have a good amount of snow and more expected to start any moment and go into tomorrow evening.

Also very excited to have Abby back at my farm. Abby was purchased back from Levi Mast during the Top 30 sale. She is A/I'ed to Flees' Reggie. The pieces are all falling into place! :)

:)That's pretty cool Roger! It's amazing how theses deer do form a bond with us. I'm with my deer every day and during the winter my wife doesn't get out to the pens a much......but I can be messing with em and let my wife come out........and they leave for her in a flash!! Lol

She starts em all on the bottle and wipes their butts and I think that motherly bond they first form with her last ALONG time!!

Again I can understand your excitement ........Congratulations:)

If you think Roger has snow in that pic, we have even more! Had an additional 7-8 inches last week and more forecast for tonight - 2-3 more. Yuck - are ready for spring!! Last year we had unseasonably warm temps this time and now this year we are unseasonably cold!! We have more snow now than we've had all winter - so it will take a lot of time to melt it all.

I agree I am ready for Spring...but if this colder air and snow means less of a chance for EHD this year I am fine with it hanging around for a bit.....

So jealous...not only because you got a great doe back on the farm, but also because you and Laurie had a reason to put your heads together again! Wish you the best, no matter what it is...

Thanks Phillip! Laurie and I are very good friends and always will be. She is a great person and we have been through a lot over the years. I feel very fortunate that our lives have taken the turns they have and we maintain a strong bond of friendship.

No matter how dark the storm clouds get, tomorrow the sun will shine again!
