I have a mother doe that looks like she has a chew of tobaco in her right jaw. Noticed it about six days ago. Darted her with 2cc antibiotic yesterday. Really don't want to knock her down in this heat. If I lose her I may lose two faws also. Shoul I give her some time of what. She is eating good.

It sounds like it might be lumpy jaw........I agree about not putting her down in this heat.........many times it will pop on it's own and go away..........I would keep an eye on it for a while and see what happens......just my opinion......at least till this heat subsides.....hope it works out......

Its prob. Fuso and a good dose of nuflor will work for it. Lumpy jaw generally doesnt look like a thet have chew in. It could be just she packing feed and hay generally not good if they stretch that skin out it will keep packed in. best of luck

Yeah I thought about food impaction too.......it definitely might be that if it looks like a chew......can you get us a pic....it is hard to diagnose without seeing it......

I have a doe now with the same problem, it drained and was gone for a while. Now I see it has started to come back, I am going to dart her with a good antibiotic in the next day or two.

Ive had a yearling buck with the same problem i caught him 5 times when he was a fawn and treated him but it always comes back ,before he started growing his rack i run him threw the handling system by the time i got him in he had busted it ,it seamed to be right under the skin (no oder or infection)but it sure seams to have hindered his rack growing and he has a hell of a over bite now Ive treated him with everything i no to can anyone help because it sounds like the same thing

Could be a quid. This is caused by a parasite that restricts blood flow in the neck of the deer. Regular use of Wazine 34 has virtually eliminated this problem in our herd.

Thanks guys. I will try to get a pic. Maybe a few days. It looked some smaller this morning. I think I will watch her and if she don't get worse I will let it go for a while. Just to hot around here.
