Thank you. The ONLY sign that saw was that when she took the bottle hit it hard and then just dropped it. It seemed as if her mouth was sore. The second day her mouth was really

Red. Then rushed down hill from there. I is no nice, that EHD!

im glad to see there are others who actually grieve because of feelings for their deer instead of because loss of money, which i do understand but i'm not a deer farmer just took in an orphaned fawn day 1 of her life which was memorial weekend and she is going on her 8th day of being sick and i have bawled like a baby everyday thinking this is her last. i made the mistake of raising her in the house which she still sleeps in my bed, she only weighs about 22 pounds and she is just the love of my life. its killing me to see her like this but i called a guy out yesterday(after having her at the vet friday)to put her down unless he thought different and he said i wouldn't just yet. the only thing she'll eat is yogurt waterd down with pedialite or gatorade. won't open her mouth very much at all, we tried tubing but its been difficult even the guy yesterday couldn't get it in. he said for now he thought she'd be ok with the yogurt mix she looks a little better today but her belly has alot of gas rolling in it and has since sat, gav her gas medicine and even a suppository but she hasn't pooped since sat either, any ideas? she's had dex, penicillin and brax

Well...so far we have only lost the one buck...so i'm wondering if it was something other than EHD

Buck #3 going down

Has any one gotten any test back? What did they say?

gonna test this one if he dies....it's been a month since the 2nd one went...something is not right

he was limping 2 days ago..then today he's acting like all 4 legs are sore...we walked up to him and he didn't run...we dartes him with dex and draxxin and he just layed there...darts are still in him..he won't move

Not so fast here boys and girls. This might or may not be ehd. You say this buck was in with one or more bucks. This offers the possibility of injury to the list of causes. I have had bucks gored and only found out that was the cause of their demise by doing a very thorough search of the abdominal area. The hole from being gored can be virtually undetectable at a pure visual inspection and does not bleed. If the gut or intestines are punctured then after a day or two the deer will succumb to toxicity from the leakage. Not saying this is the cause here but you can only rule it out by a thorough inspection both externally and internally.

Scott...i'm afraid to knock him down right now. I was thinking he may have been gored but do not see any signs with the naked eye or binocs. he is also MUCH bigger than the 3 other yearlings in there with him. I just cant see the others "Challenging" him. He's hurting for sure tho...shot him with 2 darts last night and he just layed down and left them in.

do you think i should knock him down for a closer exam???

It is solely your decision as to whether to knock him down or not. I cant make that call without seeing the deer.

not comfy with it at this point in the game. I would have knocked him down yesterday if i thought he was healthy enough for it. Just gonna keep hitting him with dex and draxin right now. Just seems like EHD to me when i look at him. he is walking all hunched up ...laying around drooling....i can see it in his face...the other 2 had the same look..as silly as that may sound..he has gone longer than the others tho...day 4 now

we lost 31 deer to ehd last year. got to the point where i was dreading going out and feeding in the morning. i really hope it isnt ehd and its something else. one of the first things ive always noticed here is the walking around like they have arthritis. we tried about everything to try and get them better. nothing really helped, and the ones that were really sick that we thought we got through it died about 6 months later. it can be a hard thing to deal with sometimes.
