200 a deer is what DR. Briggens charges.

VIRG// why lap.?????? odds go up ????? say 70% ????????? how much more stress does it put the deer though?????? JUST NOT SOLD ON LAP YET

My self I do not lap I do not like the way a deer has to be handled. Nothing against those who do but, I don't like the extra risk it puts on the life of a deer. I was just answering the question of a fellow deer farmer.

Including cost of A.I tech (Glen Ericson) , Meds, and we also paid a vet to be on site we averaged around $350 per deer..

wow, you know if (they ) said they would garn. tee 80% then just mabe just mabe ?????

We did lap this year for the first time. For us, the risk to reward was justified. 50% vaginial conception rate for the previous two years was not working. Wanting to use 2 straws of Hardcore, 5 straws of Cardiac Kid, 3 straws of Maxbo, 2 straws of Icon, LAP was the only way. We had no prolems with the does, all woke up within 30 minutes and no infections or other side affects have happened. First year luck??? maybe but we had more problems doing vaginial with running the does in "order" of straw splitting. For us VERY MUCH A WIN...

H&M, it cost us about $ 300.00/ doe for everything. I would just say to check around, ask questions of the tech and get referrences. Good ones and bad. Ask them for both. They all have "buddys" that will sing their greatness. Ask for people that NO LONGER use their services and find out why they stopped. It can be a real eye opener

Ed, yes you use the same process as with vaginal A/I. Our cost was $325. per head as well. That includes cidrs, pmsg, travel, lodging, telazol and of course the vet and her staff! who did an ecellent job! THANK YOU Dr. Rachel Wiess from PA. and your fine crew!

We used Rachel again for the second time in 3 years. I'm really not getting the extra "risk" thing with lap? There are 2 very small incisions... that's the only real difference, but the reward is that you have a much better idea of each doe's "status" at the time of breeding... well, and the ability to split straws more precisely, but the most we've ever split was 3 ways and it's normally just 2 ways.

As far as more stress on the girls... I just don't see it.

Michael, I have to agree..........We have done both ways and all things eqaul Lap is hands down the best for us! We still vaginal a couple older girls but only because of thier age. Just my 2 cents!
