Hello all , I have been reading about fawns being late, but ours were really late, the first doe fawn was born on the 4th of july the second one was born on the 15th of july and the last two (bucks)were born the following day, but we lost one of the twins as momma didn't have milk and I didn't realize it until to late, so I am now bottle feeding the buck fawn, I really didn't want to bottle feed as we had plans on going fishing a few times this summer but I guess the decision was made for us, I should of known that there was something wrong when I went out to feed and the last two would follow me around crying, I could just kick my self for not thinking of the problem sooner, really hated to loose a baby, and we have decided not to breed the whitetails this coming year as we are finding out there really is not a market out there for whitetail, I went to macon to the lollibros exotic sale took the two fallow fawns up there to sell, well the white tail fawns went first and I could not believe my ears they were selling anywhere from $25 to $150 for a fawn with good genetics , I was sweating when it was my turn with my babies but I did good, actually got $250 each for the fallows, which I am glad but it just saddens me that the whitetail is doing so bad...

anyhow enough rambling on it is time to feed my lil darling whom I have named him LOUIE:D

Nancy if you do not want your buck fawn to be tame and a danger to you and others bottlefed him for about 4 weeks then put him in with the other does that are feeeding their fawns. He will steal drinks from them and soon will not take bottle. It has usually taken about 2 weeks and my fawns stop coming for bottle. if they then came up to me I would flip them in the nose with back of my hand and soon they did not come up to me anymore. I just never want a buck on my farm that could hurt me or anyone else. i am doing it right now just put out a buck fawn out with 8 does and he nurses off many of them. Good luck

I have bottlefed bucks before and I always watch them with a eagle eye, I do know that they can be a danger but so can the ones that momma has raised, so I watch my back especially when breeding season comes around we never get close to the bucks then at all, we have a pvc pipe that goes into their feeder and we feed the grain that way and toss the hay over the fence, and even the ones on the momma are semi tame as we have a small herd and we are in the pens twice a day feeding and making sure that everyone is fine, just something we do
