Congratulations Steve Pollick for teaming with Ohio Elite liars club ODNR. You ripped our Ag. Dept. for the second time which has Jurisdiction over health issues until Gov. Kasich appointed James Zerhinger as director ODNR has never had a veterinary on board.
According to former ODNR employee David Risely in 2006, 6 CWO positive hunter killed carcasses were reported to ODNR to have come to Ohio. This is a recordable disease and by law is to be reported to the agency that has jurisdiction over disease. (Ag. dept.) Yet no CWD positive hunter killed carcasses have never been reported to Ag dept. by ODNR. Do you really think no hunter kill CWD positive carcasses are coming to Ohio? Could this be why ODNR advises us hunters not to shoot a sick looking deer??? Why doesn't ODNR want us to know why the deer was sick? Open house in 2009 when I asked districts manager, Tom Haines if any CWD positive carcasses came to Ohio, he said No. When confronted with the truth he admitted it. And reminded his biologist that was there how he had to retrieve the CWD positive elk carcass the hunter in his district had thrown behind his cabin. The biologist also denied it. Until he knew that we knew about it then he admitted it too.
Yeah the same Tom Haines that was involved in the 5 ODNR employee scandal that cost us over $3,000,000.00 in court cost, including, $248,000.00 for six month suspension. A paid vacation for breaking their own laws.
Your suggestion to talk to our legislators was a good one. Maybe, just maybe they knew something you didn't know when they voted both democratic and republicans 110-0 to move deer farmers to Ag. dept. Hmm.... Your article stated CWD states diminishing. Herds Wisconsin is now the leading state in the world for trophy bucks. Colorado's elk herd is still growing. And Ohio's herd has diminished already before CWD? Nothing was mentioned at the deer summit about the 14 EHD dead deer that I saw in 2012.
ODNR has over taken OSHA and EPA as the most mismanaged dept. in Ohio.
Its all about money. We only see 1/3 of the deer on our 198 acres in Tuscarawas County than what we did in 2008. ODNR won't even consider revising the 2015 season after our harsh winter because of loss of money. No wonder former Gov. Rhodes said he never did corral those ODNR cowboys.
