Attention all deer farmers. We lost a great man today. John Rose was killed by a tree limb as he was clearing trees off his fences in his deer pens today. Snow storm from Hurricane Sandy dropped over 12" of snow on the mountains of WV where John Rose and his wife Kathy lived on Gone Huntin Whitetails.

John Rose was one of the greatest men that I have ever had the honor of knowing. I was proud to call him my best friend.

At this point I have no other details to give. Bare with me as I don't know what else to say.

Thank You for your prayers. GOD Bless you all !!

Good Bye, John. You will be missed by many.

I mean it!

Oh my Jack, I am at a loss for words. May God look over and Bless Johns family. West Virginia has lost a key spoke in our deer farming wheel.

This is horrible news Jack. My thoughts and prayers are with John's family and friends.

I had the opportunity to stay with John and his family while doing so work for them. He and his wife were some of the kindest people I knew. John will be sorely missed. God bless.

I am so sorry to hear this, It's hard to believe life can be taken away from us so abruptly, and so tragically. I am sure I have met John in the past, I have been to West Virginia deer farmers fundraisers, I just can't picture him at the moment, but I have no doubt he was a fantastic individual, you guys have a great group of guys/women that are deer farmers in West Virginia, I pray for all of you as you come together in this tragic time. My prayers go out to all of Johns family/friends in this difficult time.

Thank you all for your postings, thoughts and prayers. The Rose family needs all they can right now.

I do have an update on the situation. My initial speculation was that John was clearing trees from the deer fences when the accident happened. It didn't happen that way. He had dropped his wife off at one pen to feed the deer and he was going to the next pen to feed those deer and was to pick her up when completed. Apparently soon after dropping Kathy off at the first pen, a tree limb broke and fell on top of John as he was riding his 4 wheeler to feed the deer in the next pen. He was killed instantly.

John had requested to be cremated upon his death. A memorial service will be scheduled once the weather issues are resolved.

Thank You
