I'd go strait to Maxbo and hope for a buck, If you AIed this year to PA, hoping for a doe. she couln't breed till 2011, and her buck wouldn't grow his first rack till 2013. Even then he would still be a yearling. By that time there will be so many does out of this older stuff that they will be relativlely inexpensive as compared to today, and you could probably just buy a double PA doe for a fraction of what two straws of PA is today or was a few years ago.
I'm still not convinced on the line bred theory. Don't get me wrong, Ive seen pedigrees with line bred does really produce, but I've also looked at pedigrees where line-breeding is relatively light, and a big buck was still produced. I feel line-breeding in WHITETAILS was successful in the past is because breeders didn't use AI as they do today. The most efficent way of stacking big bucks was to line-breed.
I'm not not arguing one way is better than the other, I'm just saying I'm still not convinced yet through my own observations...
