THIS WAS ON YAHOO'S HOMEPAGE AS TOP STORY!! THERE WERE A COUPLE HUNDRED COMMENTS, AND NOT ONE WAS NEGATIVE!!! THEY WERE ALL SAYING THAT THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO KEEP THE DEER, AND THE THERE ARE TOO MANY RULES THESE DAYS..

ABC News' Gio Benitez reports:

Lilly is just like any other house pet. She hangs out in the living room and plays outside with the family dog.

But Lilly is a deer. Her owners, who asked not to be named, say they are in a legal battle to keep their pet at home.

Five years ago, Lilly's pregnant mother was hit by a car in Genesee County, Mich. Police were called, and the pregnant deer gave birth to Lilly as she lay dying.

Lilly was in "rough shape, but she was alive," her owner said. "I asked the officer if he had any problem if we could try to save her and he said, 'Go ahead, she won't last fifteen minutes, but give it a try.' Five years later, she's a member of our family and we love her to pieces."

But the Michigan Department of Natural Resources says the law prohibits the possession of a live wild animal, including deer. The agency got involved after a neighbor's friend complained about Lilly.

The prospect of losing Lilly is painful for the family.

"It would be like taking a child away. … She sleeps on a futon, she watches TV," the deer's owner said, adding that she "plays Frisbee with the boys."

The state says it's dangerous to keep a deer in a house, noting that wild animals can become violent. The owners now worry that Lilly will have to be euthanized because she has never lived in the wild.

"It would be very, very devastating …," Lilly's owner said. "I think there's exceptions to the rules. Sometimes love should be enough."

Is there any of you guys up that way that knows who this woud be?? I and im sure more on here, would like to help them out..

I am from Michigan. No idea who the people are but would be willing to help them out anyway possible.

I hope the best for that family, why can't they let them keep their deer, they have had it 5 years already and there is literally no point in removing it now.

I want to help.... Can we flood the officials there with the media and partitions?? Lilly Deserves to LIVE. If they take her she will die. All that this deer knows is HER family. You know she did not get her mothers milk and lived! These people Clearly Love Her. It is not right to have her illegally. So, make them legal, allowing one (1) deer. Ok, dd let me know what you think, actually everyone. I am working on a letter to the officials, but I could use some help in wording it.

this would be good publicity for the michigan association if they got involved in this fight.

I guess this is where the fist fight or wrestling match would happen if one of these communist dip sticks came walking into my house to take her. Keep the cameras rolling on this, lets see which one of these clowns has the nads to go into these peoples home to kidnap and execute this deer. I would make em serve a warrant and smash my door down with the swat team, because they would need it!!! My what a screwed up world we live in these days. As if there isn't enough real crime they could be working on.

I'm glad they are figuring out that they can keep the deer alive and at a place where others will enjoy her. "DNR wildlife biologists say such animals can still pose significant risk to the public". I'm pretty sure this is why the DNR's of the country have lost so much respect over the years, they lack common sense. Our state has taken on the mentality to harvest as many does as they can in the name of "healthier deer", the preaching's of the other "biologist" groups such as the QDMA. Well, now with numbers crashing downward and doe harvests at all time highs, they are trying to collar fawns and do a study because they think the population is going down because of poor fawn recruitment. It's pretty hard for a doe to have good fawn recruitment when she's dead and in some one's freezer. You can't fix stupid, not even with Duct tape.

Don't expect the DNR to change. Because they won't !! There to smart?! They know everything , I would like to support them but until they start respecting us and supporting the deer farmer they will not have my vote!!!!! Charlie.

They have Lilly on Facebook. They need all the help they can get. Are there any farmers near the family that would be willing to help, maybe take her in?
