Wayne, thanks for the info! Also, if anyone has Maxbo semen to donate, I can also "put it to good use"! LOL I knew what you meant, Wayne...

Does anyone have a list of the donated items that will be sold in the fundraiser tomorrow at the Mo. Deer Farmers meeting?

Sorry to all that I couldn't make it-really would love to hear news regarding the pending legislation on moving non-acredited animals within our state's borders!

There was no good news at all! There are some serious issues that we need to address as an organization.. We have issues from both the mdc and ag department. We need to get everyone together and raise some money. Anyone that you know that raises deer and is not a member needs to be notified and let them know we need their help ! They fired a couple missiles over the wall it's time we stand up and show them we aren't going anywhere , but we need everyone

Yep, It was PRETTY CLEAR that Missouri Dept. of Ag has taken thier view of the NEW CWD rule and will use it the way they want! They told us that if 1 deer dies and we PAY to have it tested by a our vetrinarian and the sample goes in and comes back as no good or inconclusive............We will have to turn in 2 samples to clear up the first bad 1......So 2 for 1 to keep status!

The Missouri Department of Consevation was just as full of FUN filled information............They told of thier plans to have a moritorium on new Breeder Permits as well as New Hunting Ranch Permits!

Yep if your a deerfarmer in ANY state.............YOU had BETTER WAKE UP!

This CWD rule and the way each state interpits it WILL BE a MAJOR shake up and WAKE up for our Industry!

I was talking to a friend just yesterday...goats are looking better all the time. Is this jealousy from the state, or anger over lost revenue, etc.? I didn't vote for Nixon, but I haven't had many complaints about him, until now-that state vet he appointed sounds like she's out to make a name for herself, possibly already be looking down the road to her next promotion!

I think we're all a little surprised at what was presented to us by the state vet but we shouldn't be surprised. It's obvious their intentions are to work against us and defeat this industry. If their was ever a time that this industry needs to come together, IT IS NOW. Individually we are weak but together we are strong. There is power in numbers! I know I'm just preaching here but it's obvious to me that we as an organization need to put a plan in motion to fight for our rights. This will require many members time and all of our members financial support and a lot of fund raising to be successful. I hope all of our members realize how serious this is.

Raising goats is a means to keep my pens operating. I have way more pen space than I need for my current deer herd, which I plan to cut down this fall. I have no intention of being without deer, just fewer.

I agree that we need to pull together and make our voices heard now more than ever. I also agree that we need to do all we can to generate all of the financial support from each and every deer farmer out there. That said, I think we need to understand that the Mo. Dept of Ag and the MDC are funded with OUR tax money and they have very deep pockets.

To me, most of us are just family farmers just like your neighbors down the road. They choose to grow crops, raise cattle or hogs while we choose to raise deer. All of these different enterprises have their own "hot buttons" and come under fire from time to time.

Does anyone out there think we could get our "right to farm" support from organizations such as the Mo. Cattlemen's Assoc., Mo. Pork Producers, Farm Beareu, or others?

Just a thought.
