Do you wonder why the wildlife services is so screwed up? Google: Jamie Rappaport Clark. She was director of the US Fish & Wildlife Service from 1997-2001. Do you know where she went from there? She is now President of "Defenders of Wildlife", as of 10-1-11. They are dedicated to " the protection of all native animals and plants in their natural communities". She is an animal rights manic. How many appointees did she put in Fish & Wildlife that are still there? We need to do something about the abusive powers that these agencies have seized. This is showing up in both Mo. and Iowa.
Last night in Iowa they had a meeting with legislatures and the public, and it went pretty well, I was told. Breeders showed up and put out the facts to knock down the lies and misinformation that the DNR and anti's where putting out there.
This is one thing we have to do as breeders, it's our responsibility to learn the true facts about CWD, and show up at these meetings, and present the truth. But you need the hard facts when you do this. That will put out a lot of the fires before they start. Most of the public will believe the DNR as fact if thats the only information they are getting, and we have caught the DNR telling lies. We did this in Minnesota when we had a case in the wild show up and confronted the DNR then, the papers haven't really done many articles at all about CWD since. I think they were not sure if the DNR was telling them the truth.
The biggest thing we need to do though is stay united, and speak with one voice.
Also when someone gets CWD as a breeder, offer them your support and show them your concern. I know that Tom and Rhonda Brakke, in Iowa, are having a tough time going through this. They are getting hits from all sides with no help from BAH. Don't let them feel like they are in this all alone. There email is in the NADEFA directory if you would like to let them know of your support, and your thoughts and prayers are with them. I don't want to put their email this public site. The BAH has given them really no options to market or slaughter their deer, or any way to make back some money on these animals. They only want to kill all the animals, and not compensate them for the loss.
