Misting Chemicals......?

This is my first summer as a deer farmer and was wondering what was the most popular chemical to put into a misting system, i.e. thermal fogger. Thanks for the help. I have found that the deer farming industry has some of the kindest and most helpful people.

God Bless and thanks

If you want to give me a call, we could cover more ground on my thoughts & ideas. We use an oil base permethrin mix with 2 parts PBO to 1 part permethrin. The real question???? comes in what final percentage of permethrin is needed to give an effective kill? Many people mix a gallon per 50 to 100 gallons of water which reduces the strength to less than 1 or 2 tenths of 1%. I really question how effective that weak of concentration can be.

Let's say EHD is an elephant, SE shoot him with a BB gun, no kill, then a pellet gun, no kill, then a 22, then a 223, then a 243, then a 308. You get the idea. How big of a bullet do we need to kill this thing??? Just food for thought!

Thanks Mr. Green. I have searched around and have found a chemical that I may be able to use to supplement my wicking ropes; it's called Kontrol 4-4. The on-line label stated that it is oil-based and no dilution is required. I am basically going on what the label said that it would kill. It runs around $100 a jug but I dont want to buy it until I know that it' s safe. I've not heard of anyone using this particular chemical and do not know how safe it is around my deer. If anyone has heard of or used this in the past, please let me know. Like I said earlier, I'm new to deer farming and any advise is apprecated.

I just looked at the label on kontrol it is a 1to1 mix designed for fogging etc. I believe the Ultra Boss with diesel would better serve you in effectiveness & pricing. The diesel fuel itself seems to also be a deterrent.

after visiting John Wards farm and seeing his misting system... i made my own this year and seems to be working great... im using "permithryn" spelling?... mine runs 10 minutes at a time 12 times a day... i have tubing on top of fence from one end of farm to other....

Travis I have also spoke with John & have seen his pictures. But my question would be, what is the end result of diluted permethrin you are misting with & do you have PBO in your chemical? That seems to be the $64 question. What strength does it take to be an effective killing agent to battle EHD?

very true....we may never have an exact answer...

I have a electric eye that senses the movement of the deer and sprays when they walk by. The mix is 36% ( I think) permethin. I put 4 oz. per 12.5 gallons. Seems to keep the flies off. In the spring I fogged the pens twice a week with the same mix. What is the PBO that is referred to in the above post.

PBO is (Piperonyl butoxide, Technical) in laymens term the permethrin is the fire and PBO is the gas. When you combine these you have a very effective killing agent.

I have two 225 gallon tanks feeding my misting system. This time of year it runs for 90 seconds about 8 times a day. I am currently using Tenguard Permethrin (36.8%) at about 1 ounce for every 2 gallons. I also use PBO at 1 ounce for 8 gallons. I have lots of problems with various heads not working and other clogs but I think that was an installation problem and all in all, my system keeps all the bugs away. www.chemicaloutfitters.com is where I buy my chemical

how long does it take for the chemical to kill the bugs? im using 34% permetherin at 10oz in 50 gallon. Also do I need to change the water after spraying? I have an A1 mist sprayer.
