alright, this one is new to me so i'm gonna pick yall's brains on this. 6yr old doe fawned triplets on May 23 (193rd day). (last year she gave me twins around the same time and towards August, she became very thin but otherwise healthy. I pulled her from her fawns to gain wait for A.I. and she put it on quickly.) This year after fawning triplets, she already looks poor like she did last August. Since the fawns are a month old now, they have began to browse a little and are very healthy. She has developed a waddle under her chin. at first i thought that it could be fusobacterium related but it is symetrically placed under her chin and not towards one side of her face. plus, she was vaccinated for it. so, my next thought was since she was thin with a very large milk sack, she must be placing all of her energy into her milk supply; thus, starving her body in the process. i have heard that a lack of protein can cause pockets of fluid to build up under the jaw, rumen and ankles of deer. She has a ferocious appitite and it doesnt seem to bother her. today, i have added calf manna to the herd's diet along with rice bran and probiotics. What are yall's thoughts on this and has anyone else seen?
