We are placing CIDR's today for AI on September 19th.  I'm using my old stand by 7x7 for typical production.  I also plan on using Chernobull for more bone pushing genetics from Eric. I think this will work much like the whitetail deer industry with the thinking the antler pushing will help produce bigger antler bulls.   Eric said Chernobull scored just over 600 inchs this year.  The old typical bull scored 525 SCI.  Should make some very nice elk calves in 2016.

Most of my cows are out of Six Pack or Silvertine or Hogan which are both very nice elk.  All the cows I have four or more 500 plus bulls in their pedigree.

Matt,

I sure hope we do better than last year because we were at 60%..  The big 7x7 was post mortem semen and really not very good but in my opinion he is the type of bull we need in the elk industry.

I have some white elk and one of them just stood out today so I'm going back to the AI semen chart on her to find the perfect bull for her.  She is very tall and weights around 780 pounds.  I think I will give her a straw of Chernobull and hope for a white bull calf.  She had a brown bull calf this year out of Durango 2 and he is also one of the biggest calve here.
