Well we all recieved an email that the big show is in texas.Thats a little to far for this guy to travel for a 3 day event. Kinda sucks as we have been the last couple years and had a blast.I think it would be nice if it could be held in the middle of the country each year but hey there is always next year and it will be a short trip for the texas guys this year..Do you think it will ever be held in ny????? Yeah i wont hold my breath!!!

I feel your pain, we live in south Louisiana and have to travel up north frequently to participate and contribute to, not only Nadefa but other worth while functions. We just suck it up and do it because it is the right thing to do to support the industry. Maybe if you take a positive approach you will meet new friends, see new places and share in cultures that maybe you would have if you chose not to come.

Probably there is more of a chance that Nadefa chooses New York than Lousiana ( could you imagine our Amish friends strolling Bourbon Street in downtown New Orleans) :)

LOVE your post! :D

I'm sure they try to move it around so everyone has a short trip once in a while. We've been to the Hilton Anatole and it is very nice. It isn't right down town Dallas, but you know you're in the city!

Dont see anything negitive about that post.Would love nothing more to attend.1600 miles and 24 hr drive i think is just a bit far for these little farmers.Thats the nice thing as you dont have to be present to be a supporter.Roger you really let me down.

Flights to Dallas are pretty reasonable - you should check into it. I just booked a round trip flight from Green Bay to Dallas for less than $300. You can't drive there for that these days! That flight has only one stop and the whole thing is about 5 hours. March in Texas will be nice weather when up north the snow is still deciding if it wants to melt or not.

What if I don't fly? ;)(Sorry Roger- no slam intended for your vocation, just the vehicle!) But probably a whole lot more chance of us Canadians crashing and burning driving by car down to TX I suppose... Anyone want to carpool?:D

Tara - there's always a first time for everything! Flying is pretty easy - you just have to sit there and look out the window! Of course you have to get through security and get to your terminal first - which can be a little stressful. I never get tired of looking out the window of a plane on a clear day and trying to figure out where we are - what river is that or what city is that? Sometimes the pilot will tell you - and I like that. Everything looks so nice and neat and tidy from up high - perfectly square farm fields etc.

Wow just checked a flight from ny to dallas $324.00..Thats a great price but this is another guy that always thought if god wanted me to fly he would have gave me wings.Tara for that price mabey we could ride together somewhere on the plane and shut the window...Then tell the ladies to bring two jd and cokes and keep em comin!!

I can just see some of the guys like Eddie Ray, Levi Mast, and Levi Weaver walking down Bourbon Street with strings of beads in their hands.:p:eek:

Maybe if they come to Louisiana we can get them a guest appearance on the reaiity TV show " Swamp People". I can just imagine Troy Landry yelling at Eddie Ray and Levi to "CHOOT EM" as a monster gator rises slowly to the surface.............. As Larry the Cable often says " That there is funny"!

Another alternative would be Amtrak, which would take longer but would give people a chance to experience riding a train. There is an Amtrak station about 3 miles from the Hotel Anatole in Dallas. I checked several routes and the cost is in the $300-500 range for a round trip.

I know being from Oklahoma, that Texas is in my backyard and maybe I am a little biased about being glad to see the confrence moved to Dallas.I think my Northern brothers will truly enjoy Texas.Other than college football and the border issue okies and texans think alot alike. When we get to Dallas you will experience hospitality like you have never seen(unless you have been to Louisana and spent time w/ Bill and his bunch,ya just can't top them they are the best hands down its bred into their Cajun genes)The trees will have leaves on them already and the weather is usually very nice and warm. You will meet ,make new friends and contacts that will make you feel like you have known them your whole lives.I realize it is along ways for some but you will be glad you made the trip.We live in the land of oil so our economy is blessed w/ jobs and commerce so I think NADeFA is wise to give the south a shot.We are Red states and vote accordingly,We believe in God and every town has several churches every town!We are the preverbial Bible Belt in which Oklahoma is labeled as the buckle. With all that being said it is Dallas and a major city and w/ that comes large population centers so everyone there is not like the the description I described, but that is the way it is now days.We must all attend to support our industry no matter where it is.Attened and I know you will have an awesome time and you will never forget Texas.

The Anitole is a great place-the bar downstairs is quaint and has good pool and wings...not sure if I'm going but I will say it is on the "Norhtern" half of Dallas in case you're driving from the USA to TX (they're not part of this union, are they??) so not hard to access....

The train is a nice option for folks who don't want to fly or drive. To drive from northern WI to Dallas is about a 24 hour trip - so figure two days of driving - if the weather allows. We drive to Texas several times a year. The Anatole is right on the freeway coming into Dallas and you don't get right into the downtown. If you have a booth display you probably will be driving down. Enjoy the ride and see the countryside!
