I have a 3 week old mule deer fawn that won't eat from the bottle and is dehydrated. He began not drinking about 5 days ago. Before then, he had no trouble eating from the bottle and always had good feedings. For the past five days we have had to feed him by syringing milk replacer in his mouth. We also have been giving him ReSorb (source of electrolytes) between feedings and giving him fluids through an IV to attempt to keep him hydrated.
He has no desire to eat. His stool is a white solid (due to dehydration?) and seems to be not as much and frequent as it should be. We get about 2-4 oz. in him every 3-4hours. He looks to have a full belly, maybe he can't digest? He possibly could be constipated. After feeding him sometimes grinds his teeth, probably because he has a belly-ache or something
ANY SUGGESTIONS? There has been no signs of getting any better and we are pretty much the reason why he is still living. HELP PLEASE!
