Depending on where this is at I would love to go. What about details on available lodging in the area, food, and so on as well. Thats alot of information for only 75 dollars for my wife and I.

I found it! Toledo, Ohio. Just go to the NADeFA Website the info is right there on the main page!

Ed, didn't you get a mailing from NADEFA? It had a whole list of items of all sorts that will be auctioned off.

I was asked for a straw of Updraft to put in the "2 year old club" so there will be one of those in the benefit sale.

Many many nice things are in there. Call NADEFA and get a copy sent to you.

Is this not what the conference is to offer seminars to its members.... so why is there an additional fee for this one? Maybe Im all wet here but this seems to be something that should be part of the conference and the registration you pay for.....dont say its for the meals!

I agree!! I was told the same.

Yes you can attend for a fee.I am also becoming a member and it is $300 for us to become a member and go to the seminar unless we go to the new deer farmer seminar and there is an extra charge for that.

Yeah they only thing I will be at is the New Farmer seminar. Work schedules conflict with the rest of the conference. I just didn't know if I had to be a NADeFA member to attend the New Farmers Seminar or not.

Mrwhitetails, the new deer farmer seminar is put on by the Cervid Livestock Foundation, I believe that is why there is an additional fee and I can tell you it is well worth it. I attended last year even though I had been raising deer for a few years and it was excellent. Part of the seminar included a session that Gene Flees did on how he evaluates his animals and genetics, that was worth my 75 dollars alone.

Roger, I saw the straw of Updraft. Glad to see him in there and I am looking forward to the auction :)

I am sorry it has taken so long for me to respond to this, I was in Washington DC, this past week with a delegation of industry representatives from across the nation. I am just now starting to catch up.

No you don't have to be a member to attend the New Deer Farmer Seminar. If you are in the deer industry, I would at least encourage you to become a member of your State Association, as there are many great people working hard to not only maintain but improve all aspects of the cervid industry and they could use your support.

There are several reasons for the fee to attend this seminar. First would be to cover the cost of breakfast both days (Thursday lunch is included in the conference fee). Second would be, because when I first started deer farming and tried to attend the New Deer Farmer seminar, the room was full of "old" deer farmers who thought they were going to hear some secret information as to how the speakers grew big deer. I had to stand back in the doorway and couldn't hear anything. To make matters worse, whenever a new member would ask a question, the old deer farmers in the crowd would whisper to each other and make the new breeder feel small.

It is true the CLF organizes this seminar, but they do not make any money on it. The fee along with the sponsors are used to cover the travel, hotel and meals for the speakers. We are lucky that most of the industry speakers donate their expenses as this allows us to break even. As a side note, NADeFA loses approximately $100 dollars on a full registration and $200 for every spouse and child, on meals alone (we provide 8 meals). The registration is used more as a commitment that members are going to attend and not change plans at the last minute, which helps give us an accurate count on the number of meals needed. NADeFA is committed to keeping the registration and hotel cost as affordable as possible so everyone can attend. This wouldn't be possible were it not for our sponsors and those that donate to our fundraiser, as well as those that purchase these items (thank you to everyone for your support!).

H&M Whitetails if you are not receiving information from the NADeFA office please give them a call or let me know.

If you think it would help Mr. I will bring it to the boards attention and have a vote on placing a guarantee on the price. I will propose to the board that anyone who feels they didn't get their moneys worth we will reimburse them 100%. Does that help?
