We just added a dif hay ( alot better) and now I notice the squirts in one of the pens .Is this o.k. right after the change

thanks Ed McCrthy

They will usually do that until they get used to it. It must be pretty high in protein.

We have found with our deer it's best to intoduce hay to them a little at a time over the course of about a week to 10 days and then give it free choice a little at atime. It will clear up will just take some time. Its usally pretty easy to up set thier system.

Thanks for the info ,it must be rich in protein they are eating everything, never had my deer eat that much of the hay ,usally leave the stems but these stems are thin

thanks Ed

Sometimes the same thing happens in the spring when the pens green up and they start eating a lot of the fresh sprouts. With alfalfa you want leafy, third crop or later stuff.
