I'm a newbie to forums , looking for fellow farmers

For advice , tips , suggestions . How do I find

Friends? Anyone I should AVOID ???

Welcome over here miranda. Things on here usually heat up after everyones breeding season is over and its cold out. Then the "talking deer with everyone" happens

I admire those on here who try to be helpful to everyone. I would be most confident these are people who would also take the time to be helpful if I bought a deer or did business with them. Thanks for joining and participating on this forum.

Thankyou all ! I will figure my way around here eventually 😉 always wanting to learn !! Hear stories , trials and errors . All of it

The search option on here is great. There is a huge amount of helpful info in many old threads and post.

Don't let her fool you. I'm friends with her on fb and she raises some great deer. She knows more than she thinks. And she has the best smile in the biz ;)

Wow!!!!  What a smile!! Thats a bonus on top of getting a new member!! LoL!! Welcome!

Bringing new bacteria into your herd by buying and bringing in animals from someone who jockeys deer regularly can be almost as devastating to your overall investment as CWD. Talk to 25 breeders with 10 years seniority in the industry and you will learn who to avoid. I am constantly shocked by how naive people are in this business. Be very careful buying genetics based on the look of a yearling. If you make your purchases based on what is on the head of mature sires in the pedigree your chances of predictably getting the results you desire will be better. These are hard lessons I learned even after several years in the deer business.

Good luck!

Just posting about AVOIDING. Bacteria to me is as much a culprit as any "who". Lol

I wish someone had advised me to AVIOD these culprits in the beginning. When anyone seeks out 25 silverback breeders for this kind of advice, it is likely that they will find some good friends too. A few naive newbies may carry water for a smooth talking schemer in this business but 25 established breeders will not all be going along with a sugar coated oki doker.

You are right. Something to consider when buying a breeder as well.
