Nine youngster experience their first whitetail deer hunt in WI

Oct. 9-11, 2009 nine special hunters from Minnesota and Wisconsin will get the opportunity to go deer hunting near Birnamwood, WI. This will be USSA’s 5th/ annual “Learn to Hunt” deer hunt. Most of these youth have a life threatening illness and this will give them an opportunity to turn their outdoor dream into a reality.



A warm thank-you to The WI chapter of SCI www.sciwi.org, Walgreens, and Mathews www.mathewsinc.com/ for helping finance the food, lodging, and misc. expenses needed for this special hunt.



A very special thank you to Shannon and Kris Thiex and Mike and Judy Thiex of “Thiex Whitetails” who manage the event each year. And, also to all the guides donating their time so these kids a chance to harvest their first whitetail deer!

Well Folks as of 8:30 pm tonight I received a text message from a stepmom who said all of the kids attending the hunt had gotten their deer. 100% success is hard to get anywhere and is a testament to the quality of the mentors and guides. Everyone worked very hard to make this a success and by all means is assuredly was!



USSA Junior Board Member “Hunter”, said he would write a letter congratulating each successful participant. I imagine his schoolteacher will be happy to get a little extra English assignment out of him. I’m happy to get youth volunteers to help and mentor other youth!
